Excellent weekends racing. Well done to the MKGP Team. Really enjoyed it.
Both days tracks were Ace.
Plenty of air time.
Not many car breakages. Food was good.
I actually won something in the Raffle.
Curry House was a laugh. Griff made us all chuckle and Pidge's & Bloomer's aim at Griff's pint glass were spot on.
Looking forward to next years event.

Something happened at the start and 3 cars were out by the 3rd bend.
Something with the bleeps from the computer at the start.

Not wanting to get involved in anyway (too fecking tired) but the old 'brushed & Ni-Cd' old skool'ers have told me stories of foams on offroaders from moons ago..

Jason, F = Faster than the G
It may have been Yatabe or another track in Japan but the racers were using foam tyres with a groove cut down the centre. I remember seeing pics of Craig Drescher and Rory Cull running them on their cars...

You might be surprised to find out that some people use foams to race off road on blue groove dirt ovals and sometimes even on grass tracks amongst other places. We also use foams to race our 18th scale off road cars indoors (and sometimes Schumacher rubbers). I seriously don't see what the big deal is, it's just big foam donuts mounted on Losi wheels. They look just like an off road wheel so doesn't spoil the 'look' and seeing as we were indoors on carpet and polished wood floor with an open tyre rule (and all parts of the wheel is commercially available) I think it was perfectly reasonable to use the opportunity to see if they work better than rubbers.

You might also be surprised to find out that at some clubs that allow 10th scale off road cars to run ONLY foams are allowed, 10th scale mini pins are banned because they burn the carpet.

A full set of foams like this will cost you no more than £20 to make all inclusive and will last a whole indoor season or more! From a racers perspective a cheap tyre that work well and last long - where is the problem?

Regardless, my meeting wasn't spoiled, I still had a great time and will race there again in a heartbeat. Luckily I decided to bring my Mini [ins along just in case the foams didn't work out as planned.

My point is simply that if an oversight was made on a rule and a racer double checked if it was meant to be that way and it was then confirmed, that it should be left to go ahead.

Never mind, water under the bridge and far gone to the sea.

Was the 4WD track layout the same as the 2WD layout??

The layout was ace fun to drive, and to get a clean lap was so rewarding! And watching Pidge and Cragg drifting around the section near the track entrance (by the cold door) was bloody great lol

4wd track was the reverse of the 2wd track.

Personally I think you should stick to one "type" of tyre, and personally I don't like foams, but that is because I have driven buggys on rubber for over 25 years. IMHO this is how it should be in all classes.

it might seem that I care enough to burst but I don't Craig you are just weird, very few people seem to make a rubber work as well as you do

I am just experimenting to find a good, cheap, fast race tyre that works. And the foams did work at Newbury, we just needed a few more heats to dial them in.

It's about having options. Personally I don't want to be limited to one type of tyre because it benefits a particular manufacturer and is usually disguised as 'levelling the playing field' which you are not achieving if you allow multiple makes and compounds and having people buy their own while others get massive discount on them through sponsorship. If anything, the cheaper foam might just have done a better job at levelling the playing field

Now, if there was a single make and compound tyre rule that is supplied by the sponsors free of charge then that's another story.

Bradders 2 and 4 added to six
Yardy's 3 and 3 added to 6 so it went down to all three legs counting tom had a 4 and bradders a 7 so that swong it to yardy.

Big thanks to Lee for lending me his spare B4 to race, i hadn't driven since the last time i raced there in Feb so it was great to have another play! Lipo is definitely the way forward too - Thanks to the legend that is Rob Rasey for charging it for me every run

Also want to thank Mark for sponsoring the event and all the guys at the club for all the effort that went into the track and organisation of the meeting.

Having Tony on the Mic really made it entertaining too so thanks to him for coming down and to Lee for talking him into it!!!

It'd be interesting to see who didn't make it from those that were booked in as it's always a bit disappointing when people don't show, i think in the future it should be a pre-pay event, even if it's £5 / 50% up front would at least show the intent that you are going to race.

Thanks again to everyone though, i really enjoyed the Saturday and was itching to have a go Sunday, well done to Lee and Neil on the wins.
