No no graham you wear glasses not me. And as i said in my comments it was a good weekend and york club should be proud. I was only suggesting that in my opinion day two's track was too similar to day one's. In your words "half the track was tightened up". And that is not changed. no need to spit ya dummy out and attack me saying i post comments to cause arguments.
I raced both days and felt that everyone who raced saturday had an advantage over people who turned up for the sunday. I appreciated all the work that york club did, you included Graham. I thought Tom cockerill put in lots of effort sorting out practices and most of the scruteneering both days. Alot of york members volunteered as marshalls where needed, well done to all. And as for the 4wd A final. whittler555 no, Your incident with david snee was only one of the examples i was referring to. I didn't want to name names or cause arguments. I just felt from an independant there was 4 or 5 drivers who caused crashes more than once needlessly. I agree with cm green and nobby. everyone should be entitled to there opinion without attack and certain people on here should calm down. |

We did consider this point when making decisions with the track, but considering practice was open we thought this was a none issue, as any driver could have as many practice's as they liked, altho some of them may have been timed, nothing stopped them having as many as they wanted.

understood tom but how come shields and jarrow had only 1 practise available where york was open? is this not governed by brca rules???

it is a choice made by the club running the event.

I thought practice worked really well at York, what was the purpose of the timed practice at the end of free practice Tom, just to catch the stragglers?? I know at the indoor meetings we used timed practice for most or all the meetings, but do you think we should adopt last weekends method at all future events?? This would also aid continuity between meetings, as we seem to get similar entries at most meetings anyway.

Actually Jarrow had no timed practice, i went on 3 times for about 7 mins each time.

The idea was that it was open practice, but when a queue started to form we would go to timed 5 minute sessions. Anyone could still practice, it was just to ensure everyone had a chance to practice if they weren't ready/didn't want to early doors.
As far as I am aware there are no BRCA rules for practice at Regionals, other no practice before the day, however in my opinion it is fully acceptable for one car to be tried over features to ensure they are ok for all abilities.

well actually, i think your right. I had 2 practises. think i lasted 6 minutes on both runs... Think this was only because it took me an hour to clean the crud off me car.

thanks for that tom. I agree and thought practise was handelled well at york, however i think at every regional the practise format is not well advertised and because the drivers meeting is not until after practice people aren't informed as to how practise will work. Maybe I'm missing something here or this might be a point to improve on in future regionals...

![]() Yes, half the track was tightened up, but half was changed. If you go to race at Batley you pretty much know what half the lap is going to be like anyway ![]() I asked some of the York members what we should do to the track Saturday night - some bystanders said run it backwards - which I HATE. The opinion was taken to not overly change a good track for the sake of it and risk creating a poor one. ![]() Tom is correct on everything he has said about practise. G

Regarding changing the track, I think enough was changed to constitute a different track, considering the features we had to work around.
At the indoor finals a similar approach was taken ie. changing some bits, tightening other bits. and that was fine. I've also been to nationals before where we have run the same track both days, so it is acceptable, in my opinion

I personally only raced Sunday. The way practice was ran provided an ideal opportunity to familiarise myself with the track, and I was more than happy lining up for round 1 that no one there had an advantage from attending the previous day.
Well done to all clubs putting on regionals, and I dont think we should be comparing events (one is better than the other). If a club put on a regional, all drivers that attend should be grateful for the effort.

Hi everyone,
I have just read all the posts re York Regional (sad i know), but wanted to get a clear picture of what everyone was going on about and the main thing i think needs to happen, both on oOple and every other forum, is that people need to read what they type before they send it (i have read and re-typed this loads of times so as not to come across as a cow). Some of these posts about York Regional sound harsh and it is not deserved. I know that the track was altered 'enough' for the Sunday as i had to wait ages for my tea while everyone pitched in to help change it. ![]() Please can everyone just calm down and give constructive comments when required as after everyone has put in over 100% in putting on a regional or any racing event it is very dis-heartening when people dive in feet first about small things that, although matter, are not essential. Thanks everyone Julie |

Sorry, just thought of more:
If we aren't careful clubs will end up not being able to hold a regional because the people involved in setting it up will have 'had enough' of harsh, unjustified comments and refuse to do it next time. Think everyone needs to be aware of that before they fire comments out (this applies to every club, not just York - everyone tries and does their best). Jx |

Well said on both accounts Julie, i agree with all those points.
I think that people who dont give constructive critisism should not have the nerve to give any critisism at all about how clubs handle certain things. Lets face it, this is an extremely friendly hobby (off road, that is) so what kind of an example is this setting to people who want to join and have been told to look at races/advice on internet forums? TBH id say lets just drop it; move on, its happend, cant go back. And from someone who raced both days, i say there wasnt any advantage gained from running saturday when it came to 4wd, apart from knowing what the surface was like. Josh
