Ahhh right i was the one who got your car off the straight.
I had an x5 on order and was told that the belts dont break and it was reliable? Have you got the belt tensioner thingy on your car?

Im running an X5 (non squared) the belts are very reliable. I modified mine to run the xxx4 as its thicker but also longer than the xxxs belt used. Iv ran the same belt for about erm... end of 2005 ish.

I dont have any extra belt tensioners as my belt doesnt skip too much when running a one way, only when running a front diff and thats at my local club where everyone is used to the harmonic sound of a belt skip.

Thanks Teesside, it was an excellent track. I really enjoyed my day, and I was very pleased at making my first Indoor regional A final, and my first 4WD regional A final.

I must apologise for ruining Simon Walton's quickest qualifier. I was on the infield, when a broken wire cut all power to my car. It free wheeled onto the straight, where Simon was about to land from the table top, costing him about 5 seconds.

Sorry Simon.

Well done to Greg and Ben, great 2wd drives fromt the young'ns. Well done to Stephen Adams for being quickest in round 1, I didnt see that one coming.
Thanks also go to Westy and Alan Harland, for keeping my TRF wheels turning.

Don't worry about, I've just finished putting the rudder on, as you suggested, LOL!! I'll get my own back tomorrow night. Well done on your A final, you were flying in the qualifiers.

You are Packy's HERO with his plastic fantastic

Qualified 7th, finished 7th or 8th. Fairly uneventful final, but enjoyed it.

Sounds like something is amis in there, you said on Sunday you'd not raced in a while, was it literally the first meeting the car had done in ages?

Do you have the old (original) white tensioner pulley? The sides are not very high on that, the later black ones are much better. Firstly there is a black dual bearing one, then a later again black one that is 50% bigger diameter which gets you more belt wrap which is good.

I know you know the squared is available, have a read round 4wdrc.com for the latest stuff on the car.

It was the drive pulley it flicked off, when the belt wrapped itself around the layshaft it ripped a flange off but in my haste to get the car ready for the final i didnt have chance to replace it and thought seeing as the roller basically spoon fed the belt to that pulley i thought it would last a race.

I run the black tensionner pulley but i think im going to be changing it all when i get the X5 squared so im upto date!

I ran the car for Batley and it was fine, in fact i finished all races without a hitch!

Ben, get a B44 front hex, they are thicker, also JC wheels have a deeper hex

The only thing i will say about going to teesside is its amazing how much of a local knowledge track it is. Which doesn`t really bother me as the drivers have been quick enough to put the car in the A but, it seems they get over excited and its their "FA cup final" and just decide to drive through people who will be competing in all of the series

Apart from that it was a good day for me
Can i ad that it wasnt all Teesside lot that were going through people and there is a canny few quick lads at teesside now, plus i wouldnt put teesside regional as an "FA cup final" we have our "ACES" for that. hahahahaha

I understand they were quick enough to make the A i don`t have a problem with that, it was just that some people would drive through you if you were on the line. Plus i think there was a little more competition at the regional than the aces dont you

not the best of days for me. a lot of problems. never finished a race without a breakage but still managed to start no.1 spot of the C.

managed to bend a shock shaftin practice [my own fault from rubbish driving], in round 1 some1 drove up the back of my car and bent another shock shaft and also dented the shock body although i did manage to finish. second round i had a steering lock problem and i wont even consider goin into th 3rd nd 4th rounds. then i got to the final nd my LRP speedo decided life wasnt great for it atmo nd cooked itself which was a perfect end to a perfect day, lol. nevermind, things happen.

thanks to TRCC for puttin on a great meeting and for being well organised. and welldone to all!

Of course i got beat, im not stu wood or tom cockerill, it was actually my first (indoor) regional A final as well.
But i do the full series and respect others whom i race against, if i accidentally touch them ill wait till they have recovered/been marshalled, not just carry on regardless.

Just like to say thanks & well done to all involved with the regional, Gary, Bill & the youngsters on scrutineering (Josh, Mike, James, Leg-end etc) & the Ladies in the cafe & all who helped lay the track late on saturday night.
Lee, just a couple of points:- The only Teesside regular to make the 4wd A final (your final) was Pete Watt who qualified 2nd & finished 2nd after a great drive behind Tom Cockerill, so I dont know what happened with anyone colliding with you but it was defo not Pete. I watched him all race & he was superb & only near Tom & Bruce Thomson. Also have to dissagree with the local knowledge comment, last year with all the astro I would say fair enough, but now the only high grip astro is on the straight (not much of an advantage), the carpet is similar to that used at other venues & the concrete floor is on a par with Batley slippy floor surface for the amount of grip available.
Not trying to stir anything, just my opinion.
Also, well done to young Josh, who has improved massively the last few weeks, a great result in 2wd, B final at first regional, Good job.

Barry
