Default Apologies

All the above pictures taken with iphone so not the best to show off the paint ,and some of the cars still have mask over the windows ,just incase anyone thought i was trying to start a new trend ,butall of the above were preped, painted posted with in 2-3 days hence the rushed photography and not removing window masks

Some really nice looking shells Daz aye photography isn't my strongest point either but always try to get the shots done outside in daylight... Know it's not always possible but find it works out the best

Looking great ! Good lines and colours !

Photography, go to the artshop, buy the biggest piece of thin white card or thick white paper they have ( you can use any colour you want but I guess depending on the colours on the shell white or black will work best ), set it up against a wall, inside or out so it creates a curve between the wall and the surface it's on. You've built your own infinity curve now.

Place shell on that, get camera or phone, snap photo on nice clean back ground. So simple and even if you buy a few colours it will cost you less than a fiver, completely portable, reusable as long as you keep it some where it won't get trampled / eaten by the dog / drawn on by small children / abducted by aliens.

Anyway dude, lookin' good !

What he said....lol
If you have an editing software then add a bit of "saturation" to kick the colour up a bit.....

I picked up a light box off eBay for £20 I use that for most of my small stuff and get it popped up in frog of patio doors on a sunny day and then fill in with a diffused flash....awesome results for zero stress.

A bloke at work sells a lot of stuff on ebay, he is also into photography and he would not be with out one of these.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pro-Photo-...#ht_943wt_2845

Dont know if they would be any good for custom gfx shell shots?

That's cheap for seventy notes !

I tried a light tent with the crash helmets a long time ago, had mixed results. Using flash you got a big white panel reflected in your shot or using lights it seemed to sort of flatten it off. That was about 7 years ago though and I wasn't as experienced with photography as I am now.

For software GIMP is free, google it, if you've never used anything else you'll be fine with it. However Photoshop Elements comes free with a lot of camera's and is reasonably cheap to buy, that's good and because it's the cut down version it's fairly simple to learn and will do all you need.

@ Jon about the light tent, they're handy and you get a consistent effect. If you can do them in a darkened room using the same lights every time it will be exactly the same so once you've got the camera setting sorted you won't have to change too much. It's a shame to let work go unphotographed but these are difficult, super shiny and reflective and retina burning bright colours that like dull days next to metallics and pearls that love flash, it's difficult to balance them all every time.
