ESC settings - what do they mean?

I've been racing for a while, but I can't seem to get a definitive answer to what all the settings do on the latest programmable ESC's coming out. Can anyone help please? I run 2wd indoors, so understand, at the moment, how to program (and why) in this arena would be a useful start

Which ESC might help. Lots of manufacturers use different phrases/setting names for essentially the same thing. And some ESCs have features that are unusual or that others don't have........
