I am currently using a B5m just modded to 3 gear. A lot of people at my club run these and I fancy a change. I do run a bmax 4 in 4 wd too. Run on high and medium grip tracks of astro and carpet.
Thanks Andy |

I don't own a YZ2 but from what I've seen of the 4 at Cullingworth and even more at Batley. There is no comparison the Yoke is a better car in everyway. Your best asking Neil Lewis, Danny Harrison or Jim Furnis all fast guys with the yoke.

The question was on the tracks I race high and medium grip astro and carpet tracks what would be the better choice b5m or yz-2. Currently run the b5m as do 90 percent of the club but I do fancy a change and grew up on yokes. Just want to see if anyone has experience of both and there opinion.

So you don't own one but felt obliged to give an opinion anyway? Danny hasn't owned both so can only give a one sided opinion! Neal hasn't owned both so again can only give a one sided opinion and I beat his the car to have YZ2 with a V1 210 the other week! Jim sold his B5M and got a Yoke but then I sold my Yoke and got a B5M! And Jim Wilkinson beats us all regularly with a X6. In conclusion the best opinion is your own! all drivers and their mates will always say what they have is the best. I imagine Shawn's K1 is the best 4wd out there.

I have just said what I have seen but didn't see you beat Neil so I apologise. But everyone I know as got out of the B5M and got something else. As for James Wilkinson and the x6 well he's in a class of his own. |

Id strongly suggest you try the yz2. Mines now working really well on low grip. I was roughly a half sec quicker over a lap than the fastest b5m driver at york saturday, hes no slouch either and regularly tq's.
On anything other than low grip the car is nothing short of outstanding ![]() Last edited by Danny Harrison; 16-02-2015 at 10:14 PM. |

I have a YZ2 and have to say I'm really pleased with it so far. Its got a great all round basic set up to get you going quick from the off. I can't compare it to a B5M as I haven't driven one, but the best bet would be to try a few few laps with someone's YZ2 and see what you think. One thing I can say is though parts quality is a no contes,t the plastics and tolerances are the best around being on par with Kyosho but you do pay slightly more fore it.
Hope that helps Chris |

I've had both cars and as good as I found the b5m on low grip, the yz2 has been excellent.
When it comes to high grip, there is no contest, the yz2 wins by a mile.

Personally I didn't get on with my B5M. It was OK on low grip surfaces but on anything higher grip it was terrible. When I swapped to the B-Max2 v.3, I instantly went a lot better. I've now got the YZ-2 and I'm extremely happy with it. It's done 3 meetings and I can happily report it's another big step forward.

Neils car is heavily modified not a standard B5M, but either way let's face it with the skills Neil and Lee have they could beat us with anything. It's about finding a car that suites your driving for most of us mere mortals

I'm pretty sure he wasn't running the 3 gear conversion at the BWOC

Neil used the standard 4-gear box at the BWOC with a development chassis for different flex.

I had the B5m and loved it. Very forgiving and easy to set up. Did get beat by those Kfs no matter what i did with my set of driving skills which is above average.
Got the Yz-2 now and I am on par with them all of a sudden. Only been driving on high bite surfaces so far. Feels like I have not had enough time with it yet but my initial thought of it is that it is great. Regards Alex, probably the only Yokomo YZ-2 owner in Sweden. |
