Servo Problems

Thought I had stripped the gears in my servo so took the top off and saw the gears are fine, plugged it back in and it keeps going, as a normal motor would

Whats wrong with it?

Under the spline but )the bi tyou screw the servo onto there is like a little motor that has a rectangle style insert that goes into the bottom of one of the gears checks that the plasic that sits into onthe gear hasnt stripped sorta hard to explane.

WTF?? Not a single punctuation mark either...

I believe that the english version of what Ash means is the gears are stripped, just not the splines. On the underside of the main gear there is a oblong that juts out. This is the stop used to prevent what yours is doing. This is probably broken.

Yes. The very top gear that you attach your servo horn onto. It's underside is where the oblong lug is usually located. It's this that allows the servo to turn through just 60 degrees. However this might not be the problem! If not, I don't know...

If the output spline rotates constantly even when you aren't touching the stick then the problem is that the servo is not getting the feedback about where the spline position actually is.

Basically this means that there is somethng wrong with the potentiometer or it's attachment to the bottom of the main spline gear.

I think ashleyb4 kind of described this.

To check this you need to remove the spline gear from the servo and check that the bottom of it is not damaged and slipping on the pot.

If it is not slipping then the pot or part of the electrics is shot and that is not really user-serviceable.

If the servo stays in neutral but rotates constantly when you move the stick, then the end stops are damaged, this is a raised part on the spline gear combined with a moulding on the servo case. This is what Col was referring to.

Theres nothing wrong with the gears, it keeps rotating when there no gears on it

It will do that if the pot is not in the neutral position. This is normal. What does it do when you have the gears back on?

I had a cheap KO do this.... it was the ICS-764 model, and lasted about 3 meetings, I could'nt tell anything really wrong with it, so had to eventually bin it, since it cost less to buy than to repair by KO UK!!
