Thumbs up

Results and championship positions from Round 1 can be found at:

http://www.newburyrcclub.co.uk/mkwinter.htm

Many thanks to everyone who helped run the event, particularly Andy for track design and organisation, to Rob for electrical work and all the track monkeys who built a track that didn't move.

Well done to everyone who turned up for making it a great day's racing -some good battles and not too many broken bits, it was a pleasure doing race control today.

Hope to see you all for Round 2

That was great fun. Big thanks to all. Sorry I had to shoot off quickly but was nephews birthday party. The track was much faster then the GP, and was best race I had in a while, this was even better. Thanks!

I got a 3 mins of film of Adam and Rob too, so just put that up on youtube.

Once again fun track, fun racing big thanks to M-K racing + team for another great event.

I didn’t do so well, my excuse was trying to use the same set of tyres from the last event, by the final it was clear that was an error.

On a 'real car' note... two Golf Mk1's at this event, see Lee they are the greatest cars ever, I try to explain these things to you, youth of today, only interested in fast fast cars

Bathy ... the other Mk1 was mine.

I know what you mean about tyres .... I tried the same.

Thought the track worked really well .... just wish I'd not made the change I did for the final .... car was amazingly different to how it had been the rest of the day .... quick but so much harder to be smooth with. Oh well .....

Ray Mills took a bunch of pictures on Sunday morning. http://www.newburyrcclub.co.uk/mkgallery.htm

If anyone wants me to host pics, you can send 'em to [email protected]. Should you need a hi-res copy of a picture or two just pm me the numbers.

I used to have a Mk1 Golf, one of the early 1600cc GTis. Best car I ever owned, still miss it. Brakes were a little weak, but a great car to steer on the throttle.
