Default pink wheels!

Last night I put some rims in Aldi's own-brand Acetone to remove the tyres.

Just tried to remove the rubber and it literally fell off. 2 problems though:

1) They now smell of coconut fragrance.
2) They are now pink

Problem number 1 isn't too much of a problem, but is there an efficient way of re-whitening them or preventing them turning pink in the first place?

Was thinking about offering them to Gui for his 22 but they are the wrong shade of pink

Well, seeing as you seem to like using household products to tune your racing gear, how about Colgate Extra Whitening? Or the Aldi equivalent of course.

well it sort of works:they are a bit less pink and now smell minty fresh. Will try the Lidl stuff next though. Does it have to be white toothpaste? what will happen if I use Aquafresh?

Mmmmm... how off are they? You could just get some RIT dye and colour them any colour you want

All black wheels might be coo, or you might decide to stay pink and make them shocking pink!

Dicky - they were about the same pink as the shell in your profile pic, however they are now best described as "off white" now!

Did you REALLY use toothpaste? I'm worried that I can't tell if you're being serious or not...!

Paul, you know what makes a brushless motor quicker? Dip it in a solution with the following:

* Eye of toad
* Clove of garlic
* Tears of dragon
* Snake's tongue

.....

This reminds me of a classic car forum moment back in the late 90s, when a young kid with too much car (Fast Nissan of some sort if I remember right) opens an account in the forum and his first post is something along the lines of...

"Hi bros! I'm 16 and I have to race my buddy in a month's time and I want my Nissan 300ZX to beat his 5.0 Mustang. What is the one part I can get for my 300ZX to make sure I beat his custom 5.0?!?!?! Pls help bros!!! I can't lose this one"

The first reply comes and it is something along the lines of:

"Dude, I feel your pain. Nobody likes to lose a race, but you are in luck! The best part for the 300ZX is a Flux Capacitor, with that one part it will absolutely beat any 5.0 Mustang no matter what he has done to it!"

The everyone follows with things like:

"Totally! A Flux Capacitor, I have one installed in mine and I am running low 12s on stock tyres!!!!!"

Anyway...

Three weeks go by and a reply comes from the OP:

"AGH!!!! I've been every F***ING where and I can't find the F*&%$% Flux Capacitor! Is this a Japanse part or some S**T?!?!?! Some guys laughed at me at the parts store!!!!"

Thats brilliant! Did they also tell him to change his gearbox oil with "Elbow Grease"?

Paul - were you joking when you suggested I use toothpaste to re-whiten my wheels? I hope not as I now need a new toothbrush.

Chris - have you tried running Fairy Lemon Fresh in your rear shocks with Domestos Pine in the front? Great set-up indoors.

We had this discussion in the pub a few years ago, pondering whether peanut butter would give a good damper/rebound effect in the shocks maybe with a few drops of veggie oil and usage of jam, lumpy or smooth spread. Lol

I was using olive oil in the front and veggie oil in the rear, with a bit of cornflour to thicken it

You've never wondered why you are so much faster than we are? It isn't because you have spent years polishing your driving skills... We are AWESOME drivers, its just that our shocks and diffs are full of stuff we found at the back of the kitchen cupboard.

Not to mention tyres... I don't believe in using foam, ham and cheese inside my tyres!

Whitening toothpaste contains a mild bleach - I did have a bottle of Domestos (Aldi equivalent anyway!) at the ready.

Stef - you are absolutely right! Here at Team Shambles we like to make people laugh off the track and cry on the track
