Default LRP Pulsar3 VS TeamOrion AdvantageII

Hello,

I'm about to buy a charger for my IB4200 pack and also for the transimitter batteries.

Unfortunately in Athens I can find only theese two chargers. Their specs are similar.

Which of the two would you suggest and why?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Merry Christmass to all !!!

Both very good. I use the Pulsar Comp 3 myself, and my touring car racing buddy uses the Orion. We both are impressed with our chargers, and as you say similar specs.

Reason I settled on the Pulsar 3 was first it was in stock at MK Racing, great price too. Secondly it's lifetime warranty makes it very appealing. Really though not a lot between them, go with which ever ones tickles your fancy.

I'd go for the Orion charger as it has a temperature sensor, better safe than sorry in hot weather!

Yeap, looking again at their specs I found that the Orion has temp. sensor (LRP hasn't)

Does everyone know if the Advantage has a built in cooler (fan)?

Also, the Orion Advantage has a temp sensor and the Pulsar not. Is this a serious reason to go for the advantage?

I searched through google to find a comparing review of theese two chargers but I can't find anything...

What are the pros and cons of each charger?

Sorry for the plenty of questions but I'm a bit comfused

I have a Pulsar 1, it has never let me down and been an excellent charger. I now also have th newer (Lipo ready) Orion advantage. The menu system and general using of the LRP is better and I prefer it. However I do use the temp probe of the orion and the Lipo will get used one day, but the Pulsar 3 already has this. What I HATE is the annoying sounds of the Orion.

I'd personally buy the LRP, but both are good bits of kit, you're not going to go wrong either way.

Both chargers are very good, but one thing to look for when buying this sort of thing is after-sale support, not sure what you get with the Orion charger but you get a 25 year Warrenty with the LRP charger.

I personally have never used a temp probe on cells, as I've never felt the need to.
Like has been posted before the LRP has a LIPO charge mode now as well.
But neither charger come's with a lipo balancer lead.

Between the two, id choose the Pulsar 3. I have just bought one and its excellent. I reckon the Orion looks like a brick in comparison, but that doesn't mean anything, its all about the functions.

Personally the temp probe is a put off, too many variable just confuses me. I don't trust temp probes either, for instance charging in my tent in the summer - put a pack on at 9am, but at 10am the sun is up and blasting through the window (feels like a Sauna) and so the temp probe can be +10 degree's regardless of cell temp.... The Pulsar 3 seems to reliably peak off and my cells are far cooler on it than when charged on anything else.

As for Lipo, I bought it for its capability although I don't need it yet. If I became convinced I need to balance Lipo's (I know nothing about them yet), then id get the Spintec for that and use the Pulsar for my Nimphs.

Thank you very much for your answers!

So, the result I've came into is that on the one hand the LRP is easier to use, have 25y warranty and I like more its look. On the other hand the Orion has a temp probe but I dont like this cheap imitation of carbon look.

I'm about to go with the LRP Pulsar Comp.3

Thanks again guys!
