Ron, unfortunately no idea. They werent any good to use as all my testing on the first batch they all snapped in the first 30 seconds. I would recommend approaching the belt makers who sell repros on ebay and ask if they could do them in blue.

Hi guys, first post here from Australia. I have been slowly going through this thread and have found it very interesting indeed.
Long story short, back when I was a pup I got a ZX-Sport for my birthday and for various reasons I never got it finished. Recently after taking a break for work life I have dragged out the Lazer to get going and have some fun! Trouble was when I opened the box lots of bits were missing. So I have slowly accumulated the parts required to get it going. Which has conveniently allowed me to upgrade it to 2.4ghz radio, lipo, brushless motor and ESC. Took it for its first run a couple of days ago and man am I hooked! Broke front drive belt, open diffs suck and tyres rock hard (only good for drifting). I want to spec it up to Zx-R and beyond. Dangerously a few scotch and cokes later, an iPad and eBay and I am going to be on a first name basis with the postman! Few questions: What parts would I need to upgrade to a slipper clutch setup? Will 3racing ZX5 shocks fit (I think they will) Has anyone got a solution for DIY stabilizers (not really keen on the price of OT-54) Where can I get carbon shock mounts from to change the shock position? I bought LA245 universals, thinking they are for the front, but from a quick scan of this thread that is wrong, but maybe they will fit the rear? I need the 65mm for the front? Not sure if the carbon tubs mentioned in this thread will fit the ZX-Sport, so I am going to get a friend who is a master craftsman in carbon etc to make a new chassis (not sure if there would be a market for them?) Anyway so glad I found this thread, keep the info coming in. Cheers, Tim ![]() |

Tim,
This will cost you a lot. You will need to replace pretty much the whole car to make it into a zxr. I can sort you out with a rear gearbox with a zxr mk1 slipper clutch attached and spur gear but need to think on a price as some items are rare. I dont have the layshaft pulleys spare so youll need to aquire those from somewhere. Look up fibrelyte, the links below in my name tag. They do all for the zx and r. I would advise a mk1 chassis so would go for the zx main chassis anda single section top deck. You will also need the L brace. Shock towers i would go for the front semicircular handle type as its the strongest, rear its dowm to what you like. Its expensive but the carbon fibre weave is stronger.

Hi Welshy,
Thanks for your reply, I would be very interested in your zx-r rear gearbox. Have a think about price and PM me. So from what I gather all I would need is the LA-11 for the layshaft pulleys? How goes the progress with the SC10/B4 slipper clutch conversions? Reason I ask is I am running a 10T Brushless and am concerned the MK1 slipper won't be up to the task ![]() |

Ive finally finished tinkering with the layshaft and it is done. Alcyon can supply you with a layshaft but may take time to get made as it took me 2 months to get it but was worth the wait. Ive basically designed it around a vts slipper clutch due to it being easier to set and more beneficial to saving the drive train. It also felt easier to drive and was quicker than a standard B4 slipper. But im now contimplating asking our new 3d maker to do a modification to the rear gearbox as well but am still looking at the original and comparing to my cf design to work out exactly where the tensioner bearings should be. This may take me some time but aim to get that done soon as well which should be easier to work on. Mind you my cf design is the best out there but does take time to rebuild if a belt does snap. For this buggy it would be nice to have a choice. Mk1 slipper should be sufficient enough for a 10t brushless just in case your wondering. Mmm cost for my gearbox is in the air. Need to discuss with Fibrelyte, who do the side plates, motor plate, L brace (my version with tensioner screw section) to get the costs which i will do tomorrow. you will need those to make it. Youll need to get new screws as well. You need to locate LA112 post set and bearings (3x6mm x 6) You will need alloy pivot blocks (not the new ones sold on ebay or by Paragu) as well as diff and LA11.

I just want to run the B4 slipper as I already have one, is there a layshaft available to suit that?

Polish. Looks rough but quite smooth. I have one. Postage price set by shapeways, nothing I can do.

Yes Alcyon can do you one but you have to lock the one way up. Ive extended the last design by 2.75mm and believe that should be enough to fit a B4 slipper. In two weeks i will know for definite

Problem is if you want to use the B4 slipper, the VTS parts wont line up, and vice versa. Its best I only make 1 type of layshaft to save cost, so I guess we have to with welshy preference which VTS then I guess I will make only VTS version. For the optima mid however, it will the B4 standard slipper.

I will most likely be in for one of the shafts, sorry I am a bit behind the times I am only up to page 150 of this thread. Still digesting all the details!

Its not your fault, don't fret. We did not finalise the design yet. anyway I have a shaft with me now for the standard B4 clutch. let me test fit it into my ZX to see how it goes.

My last design was to move the slipper plate closer to the motor plate so the gear cover gave plenty of room for use of the VTS, i did make a mistake in my measurements amd turned out i was 2.75mm too short at the slipper threaded end so was off a bit. My fault but we are at the end of testing and just need confirmation shortly to see if its a perfect fit for both slippers.

Dan, for the gearbox you will fit it into i would advise waiting a little while longer. Its going to be perfect.

I'm OK to wait I was just getting a little confused in thinking that the final design was only going to work with the VTS slipper

Dan,
This is whats happening at the moment. This is the final stage and should suit both slippers. The hardend steel is for me as i use the one way and have it set loose, but the standard version Alcyon will be doing wont be hardend but can be done for more cost. if you dont like the one way then the standard layshaft is fine and as normal with Alcyon the finished product is an art form on its own.
