Cool FTX Welsh Micro Grand Prix - 17th February 2008

Cardiff Onroad and Buggy Association (C.O.B.R.A) have organised a Welsh Micro Grand Prix for February 2008.

The event is held on behalf of the WRCA who will be supplying trophies to the first 3 in each class.
CML Distribution will be supporting the event in the form of supplying prizes for the drivers raffle!

Classes will be 1/18th Pro-Stock and Modified (BRCA rules) and 1/10th buggies (2WD & 4WD) to BRCA rules (with no weight limits).

The racing area will be 12m x 20m on both carpet and gym flooring. The track width will be around 2m with off-road features including jumps, drift sections and uneven surfaces.
Lap counting will be with AMBrc3 and all entrants are asked to provide their Personal Transponder number with their entry form.

A shop facility will be avaliable onsite to support the event with a full stock of supplies for the 1/18th entry and general spares, supplied and managed by 'Trackside Spares'

You will need to supply your own pit table and chairs. You must also assume that there is no electricity on site for the purpose of charging and are asked to supply your own 12v power source (in a plastic container)

Entry fee is £8 for adults per class and £4 for juniors (Under 13 on 1st Jan 2008).
The closing date for entries is February 9th 2008!

Venue :-
Llanishen High School
Heol Hir
Llanishen

Would have liked to attend, but the event clashes with the Batley Supercup

Is that the same place where I used to race my buggies with Belsten and Harris on Friday evenings?

Could be but am unsure, it was with the car park at the back of the building, if so then it must be St Mellons.

Is Cobra still using the outdoor little club track in the park?

We have been racing summer at Heat Park in Cardiff and Winter (for the last two years) at Llanishen High School. Buggy's generally in the summer, Saloons in the winter (indoors). Micros are a new venture for us as a club, but we are determined to make it work.

Please come along if you can 1/18 or 1/10, entry list will be restricted to 80, so get those entries in early.

If you want to find out more about the club, please use the address below and register (it costs you nothing and you may fined it of interest)

All the best

Roy

Now that sounds like fun. Shame it's PT only or I could convince some more to do it.

Providing no clashes I'm up for it

Hi glypo,

The meeting is running with the AMBrc3 Timing system and we need to know your personal "PT Number" to prepare the lap counting software.

However, we shall have PT handouts for use on the day for those that need them. So bring all your freinds and help make it a good day for all.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

All the best, see you on the day.

Roy

Yup, thanks all for a great day. Well organised, great racing and superb raffle prizes!! Maybe a down ramp on the double would save the cars taking such a beating, just an idea for the next one!!)
Thanks again
Andy Griff

I echo these sentiments. The day was organised very well so a big thanks to everyone involved for making it run so smoothly. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and an old timer was made to feel very welcome on his return to racing
I look forward to the next one
Thanks all
Dave

Ditto to Dave and Andy, and yes well organised and a really good day out. Thanks to everyone involved. I really enjoyed it.

The only downside worth mentioning was those orangeish double ramps that I would recommend not using again, unless they have been rebuilt at a better angle so landing can be done slow and fast and would make it much easier to do without damage to anyones cars.

It was a top day, got a good collection of sheared blaze driveshafts..... except the last one, think that got sucked into a parallel universe!!

The double jumps were great, just needs a gym mat on the landing zone for the girls amongst us!! And me Tamiya Chassis is still in one peice!!!

What made the day memorable..... the excuses.... I would of got..... but..... fill in the gaps!

I think the reason that there was no down ramp was because the club didnt think that the micros would be able to clear the doubles >o) ... showed them eh

GREAT day out..great track, great racing and watching Griff, Wez and co lay the smack down in 10th was brilliant!

Cant wait till UKMICROX back at COBRA on March 16th

(Nudge nudge micro drivers..get your forms in!)
