top man!!!!! Thanks for the offer ..... but will they fit that is the question???

In my BJ4 I run Corrally tubes on top of L bars on the cells (neg on motor side facing forwards) and 140mm link wire running on top of L bars.

If they would fit then brilliant!!!!

Looks like we'll be standing back from your table mate, I can see the exploding cells already.

Are you not giving the new pred a go in 4wd mate? Looks like I've got hold of a nice s/h Lazer so hopefully I can enter the 4wd.... haven't touched tenth off-road in ages

If that was in a B4 would the positive be at the back towards the speedo?

obviously i was joking about nuking the cells Jay

as for 4wd i think i'll just stick to 2wd for this one and break the pred out for next year

Nope the opposite but if the rest is ok then the wires are long enough to swap ... just need to remove the cable ties and check twice before plugging them in!!!

Hi Roger,

To be honest you should have enough time between runs to get cells charged, even including allowing them to cool down.

I tend to charge them all the night before, then just re-peak in the morning for practise.

Say you use at most 2 sets for Practise, you'll still have the one set left to peak before round 1, then after that has been and gone you'll have loads of time to charge up one of your practise packs again which I find only take at the very most an hour to cool down.

I don't know what everyone else does, but i rarely discharge the cells at a race meeting either - sure enough i'll discharge them properly before charging on the Saturday but on Sunday after each run i will just let the cells cool down and re-charge them later in the day when i need them again. I've been doing this for a while and not had any problems? I charge them at 4a if that makes any difference.

All i'm trying to say is i'm sure you'll be fine with 3 packs and don't believe you'll do any damage by running them more then once or even twice in a day if you leave them to cool between charging.

As they've limited racing to 80 drivers that should mean you get a good hour/1.5 hours between runs so i'm sure you'll manage on 3 packs (i certainly intend to)!

I read somewhere that Dresher used 2 packs in a TC meeting, they actually run better on their third charge!
I don't intend on using more than 3 packs, thats all i ever use.

Ok guys, I was thinking the following about cell charging. (Could just be my total fear of the IBs going pop on me making me more paranoid but ....)

80 drivers, 10 per heat = 8 heats

Each heat takes 7.5 minutes (5mins race + lap + 2mins for change over of heats) = 1 hour per round

So run a pack in round 1, cool for an hour (now round 2) then charge at 3.5A (my normal charging rate) takes 1 hour 15 minutes on average. Just enough time to be ready when you get back from marshalling round 3. Ok, in reality your only going to have to put 50% or so back in so about 40 minutes charge. That is final 1 sorted.

You now have just about enough time to get the cells from R2 charged for final 2, then just about enough again to do the R3 pack for final 3.

This is fine until you have a false peak, get out of step and fall as little as 15 minutes behind with your routine (i.e. forget to put cells on before you go out for your race and have to wait until you get back after marshalling to put them on) your sunk
If you get distracted by working on your car this can easily happen!!!

Just sounds REALLY stressful ...... will certainly be taking lots of Solpadine with me and make sure I have a BIG bottle of brandy waiting for me when I get home!!!!!

That jump looks awesome .... get it right and it should be a beautiful arc in the air get it wrong and you could have a broken everything ..... will take some driving and I bet the different styles people have will me mean more than one coming together during the day I am sure!!! Is great to see a proper form on a man made jump.

Roger, that seems plenty of time. When I do touring cars in the summer, we have to charge our cells much quicker then that as there are less people. It's no problem.

I'm going to be charging my cells at 1C. So for the 4200mAh just charge at 4.2 ampere. They certainly can take more, I used to charge my IB's at more then that anyway. That way it's theoretical charge time (with 20% efficiency loss) of 1hr 12mins from flat, as you said you won't be running flat so you can be basically guaranteed of 100% charge for each run, no problem.

How do you cope with club racing? Surely when you race club level you have shorter then an hour between rounds? Just do whatever you do there. Really sounds like loads of time for me. I'm planning on charging my EP4200's for my 4wd and IB1400's for my micro all day using only one charger.

Andy - Looks fantastic!!
