Well that’s the AGM over for another year, good turn out considering the weather with a few there but not racing. Not much to discuss other than electing Westy as secretary again, Gary as treasurer again, Clarky as vice chairman and Nev taking over from me as chairman J
I seem to have remained on the committee as some sort of PR position since I’ll be keeping on with the emails, oople posts and as a contact number on the web sites.
18 racing following the AGM with us still managing 4 rounds of quali and a final, 11 TC and 7 buggies from memory. Good to see yet more new faces with Richie, Richard and Trev either racing or coming along to sort cars for next week.
Speaking of which, see you all then J

Default Hey folks

Not sure if I have this right, but is this the club that used to race at LONGBENTON ? Back in the days of Phil Alder, Nobby, Bod, Buckle, Ray, Pat, James Chapel, Flipper, etc etc...

Well cough cough.....twenty years on......cough cough.... I am thinking about coming back racing again with my eldest son who has come of age ! He has a nice CAT SX3 but I have convinced him (and myself) I can still own him with my old tub chassis Lazer.... Problem is I need to find stuff to rebuild the damned thing......stuff has changed so much ! It seems gone are the days of 19 double's and matched 1700 SCRC's...it's all brushless and some magic tricker LiPo ? Hahahahahahaha crazy voodoo stuff like that.

What nights do you meet ? Times etc etc ? Also I am on the hunt for a lazer to rebuild mine I foolishly sold the blue UJ covers and longer swing shafts etc etc so all I have now is a tub chassis with the diffs, a set of taraxas shocks, a takin speedo and a modded motor.... I want to put a brushless set in if I can get it going again...

Cheers

Richie Harrison

Will do... I navigated here via YouTube of all places so was too lazy to go back to page 1 hahaha.... I managed to find a guy selling lazer bits.... Have secured some blue team line UJ covers and some ally mid nuckle joints.... Just need the rear hubs, , a full set of swing shafts, the ally hex adapters for the wheels....top arms for all four corners...a wasp steering mech, a fet servo, Then a brushless motor and esc and she will be back to where she was ! Jeez nostalgia ain't cheep ! I could have bought another SX3 !!! But the car or what remains of it is very sentimental to me..... Plus these whipper snappers need to see some old tech on the circuits hehehehe

Had my lazer there last week but interference over my 40mhz reciever meant it went straight back into the bag! Turned out changing the crystals when running my TC would have been the answer, however the lazers in sound mechanical order after a few vintage eBay finds and I want to keep it that way! You sound like your in the same situation as me with old gear from 90's!

Hi Richie H, Seems we might be changeing the name to "The welcome back club". There should be quite a few faces you might recognize when you turn up Monday night (all a lot older). The number of older members who are getting in touch to relive their "youth", is quite common just now.
Looking forward to seeing you both.

Ray

There's more than one Richie

But there's only one Ray...........who's never actually stopped living his youth. Some say he's been here racing longer than the club it's self and never missed more than a couple of weeks at a time.
Long may it continue Old Man, hopefully people coming back to it in another 20 years will still see your familiar face on their return

Ok lads the first meeting of our new chairman is this coming Monday so lets have a good turn out for him J
Get your cars prep’d and ready for some good close racing.
And lets see if the buggy lads can use even more of the equipment from the store than last week in their jump/rumble construction - pretty soon we’ll all loose a round of racing due to the time it takes them to construct the buggy section of the track ;-)

Hope to see the 2 new Ritchies and Trev there again and maybe the other potential returning Ritchie??

Maybe we can get a full heat of Ritchies…….

Oh and don't forget your membership fee which includes BRCA is now due

No problem there then Mark i'll just build the buggy track and forget about the TC section fine to me.

you seem obsessed with rounds and time i'm sure all would sooner have a great track both TC and buggy then spend 5 minutes building an oval

Never heard anyone else grumble about the time taken to build the track

And yes more jump's bumps etc in the coming months

Gar

Hahahaha some things never change.... Saloon class vs buggies.... It got really bad at one point I recall Nobby and James chappel turning up early and setting up track with table top jumps about 3ft high then pat, Ron, Ray, Phil (not Alder) having to heighten body shells to cope....ultimately the saloon drivers won out in the end and flat tracks were all to often the norm.. Me personally ran both classes but I do enjoy jumps, bot dots, and other oddities in a track. Whilst we are on tracks and surfaces..... What tyres do folks run and what inserts ? It used to be yellow cat spikes but I don't know if these are still made ?

Hi everyone can we all please remember the club is there to Accommodate buggies and touring cars.
So we expect the track to be built to suit both classes.

Please remember that the touring car guys at the club are the people that kept the club going over the past 5 to 10 years while others had taken a Sabbatical or like myself were off racing bigger events.

Remember the club isn't just a BUGGY CLUB it's a RADIO CONTROL CAR CLUB.
We welcome all 10th electric rc cars.

See you all on Monday.

think you have the wrong nobby pal.
I don't remember doing that as I have always raced both classes.

Hope to see you Monday so I can try and put a face to the name.

If you are Nobby (Clarky) going out with / married to Phils daughter then your memory fails you.... Alas I have no photographic evidence but I reckon I could produce witnesses to corroborate my account

See you all on Monday... I might even have Jnr's car (and Jnr) if I can get more packs of batteries by then

My memory never fails me.
I never got involved in track building when pat was chairman as he always built the tracks.
And I really do know that myself, and James wouldn't of got together to build a track.

See you Monday.

Was tongue in cheek Gary where's your sense of humour?
As for being obsessed with rounds when's the last time I crammed in a 2 leg final or 4th round for one class when there's been 4 heats. It happened when I was away which some thought was the best run smoothest meeting in ages!!!

What tyres you guys using.... Nobby we will agree to disagree matey we even had boarding up the steps onto the stage that night for a banked corner ! Infact I could be wrong but I think some poor git got parcel taped up then hoisted onto the ceiling with the trampoline thingy... This was all before Bod and the other bloke who's name I cannot recollect left to start another club. I am trying to think who was running saloon... I think I remember Ray had a sierra cosworth shell with kallibur or some other beer brand on it.. Phil had he escort cossie painted in his scheme...Webster had the same in his race colours... Ron had his blue cobra with the little man in and pat had a 6R4 in Gollop colours I think ... I had a silver cobra....geez it's flooding back now !

Also whilst I am on, are you guys still using the transponders, if so I will need to drill Jnr's car to mount it..... I deffo need to find out what tyres to run though !

PT needed to be counted. Anyone more than welcome to join in racing without a PT tho. Just to be clear :-)
