I just assembled my GV2 kit last night. The kit went together perfectly with no snags whatsoever. The screws are better than what I am accustomed to with AE and Losi and just about the whole car uses all the same 2mm allen wrench (nice!).
The kit includes two sets of front axles so AE wheels can be used in addition to the kit wheels and the rear will take Academy wheels or Losi/AE standard wheels. The chassis is more narrow than the other cars on the market and a Novak GTB is a very tight fit but it does fit. You must space the speedo off the chassis about 2mm so the smaller contact board clears the outer edge of the chassis. I also use Lipo and the battery tray is good and wide so I can space my battery over a touch for speedo comfort. Those using LRP/Nosram or just about any conventional speed control will have no problem fitting their gear in it. So Far I am VERY impressed with the car, just as I am with the SBv2. This Academy stuff is the real deal.

I just had an email from Amain hobbies, my GV is on it's way to me, YAY.
Is there work to be done on the bellcranks like on the SB? This is the first time I will not have a losi 2wd buggy in my line up, gulp...LoL. |

Some have dremeled a little (tiny) bit off the chassis walls to allow the bell cranks to travel further. I feel that I have plenty of throw as it is but I'll see how I like it once it's running. I did have to use a small file to make for some clearance in the front bulkhead. The heads of the rack screws grazed it as they passed. Took 30 seconds to fix.

i put mine together yesterday and i noticed that when the VLA is in the narrow position and the front knuckle is in the low position with the spacer on top the knuckle hits the arm on the part where the little screw goes in to hold the hingle pin. so im just wondering if anyone else has this?
also the steering bell cranks seemed to have alot of play going up and down, i shimmed them even though the manual didnt mention anything. and one more thing, how do i set the slipper? do i just tighten the screw all the way in? if yes how do i adjust it? other then those things i got to run it on a carpet track with stiffer springs and everything else being exactly like the manual and it was pretty good seemed stable on jumps and bumps and it was faster then my old xxx cr. also it wheeled alot.

As long as you know your diff is tight enough you want to set the slipper to slip before the diff. One way to do a bench setting is to have a friend hold the rear wheels while you apply throttle. The front wheels should come off the table while the slipper slips to prevent them from coming up violently. This will guarantee good drive off corners and jumps but protection for your diff.
I noticed the up and down play in the steering linkage too. I haven't done anything about it yet.

i figured out what to do about the steering. they include 4 shims that are the perfect size to go behind the bearings. so you dont space the shafts you space the bearings from the plastic.
and what pistons can i use? associated or kyosho? and which are the same as the ones that come with the car.

Mr X, Associated pistons work in the Academy shocks. They fit tighter than they do on the Associated shock bodies so you may need to sand the edge of your pistons slightly to get them to move freely (I needed to do one of mine in my 4wd). I don't know the piston hole sizes of the stockers but I'd say they are about like AE #2s based on the oil weights I'm running.

Well after 2 full dyas of testing I have come up with the following setup for med-high bite clay tracks, we have very tight technical sections mixed with a triple that spreads about 25'. This is the best setup so far with the fastest lap timed and great consistentcy.
Front camber 3 - C 2 #4 AE washers under the ballstud steering - stock rack with one #4 washer on the spindle MLP - narrow Shocks - 3-hole pistons 57's 30wt losi black academy springs shock at middle hole in arm, middle in tower 27.5 aluminum caster kickup, stock droop (just below level) Rear 3 degree's of anti-squat (AE .030 washer under front holder) camber 2 - B no washers shocks unscrewed 1 turn, 3-hole 56's 20wt losi white academy springs shocks mounted outside in arm and #3 in tower MLP narrow Novak 7.5 'lite' geared 80/23 GTB 4-coast brake stock rest Protek 4000 lipo + 1mm stainlessplate for weight (weighs 4.5oz.) Run the slipper as tight as traction will allow, tons of forward bite AE wheels F/R- Pink Tapers, Pink 3 rib prescrubs bomb 1 foams...flame and sauce with zip free Jumps excellent!!!!, very predictable on/off throttle. Lovin it

i just purchased a GV2 over the week end and im in need of some information on the shocks im a old losi guy im not sure what shock top they want you to use 7mm or 9mm and what is the over all length of the front & rear shocks. any help would be greatly app.

they want you to use the long shock tops and the longer bottoms as well.
also i was wondering about the VLA on the car. i run narrow position and if i go to wide will that change the camber gain as well as making the suspension softer? so having it in the wide position would make the car have less grip at that end? i would like to prevent traction roll on a carpet track.

It will cause the car to have more side bite, and yes you will have more camber gain since the difference between the lower and uper arms is greater with a long MLP...assuming the link length doesnt change
