Default Forget about gas!

Have you seen this?

http://www.redrc.net/2007/11/novak-1...kit/#more-6617

No more gas 1/8!!

When someone finally develop a fully electric 1/8, not a weird conversion, there won't be gas cars ever more.

People have been doing this type of conversion for a good while now and it will never make the same noise and smoke(a big part of the attraction),so IC powered cars are safe and will not die out untill there is nothing left to burn or they are outlawed.
Nice though.

Why not? Here, we have a special cup called "TNT" where we race 30 minutes finals with electric touring cars aganist gas touring cars and electrics even win!

There's something in this hoby that I doesn't like at all:

When talking about gas cars everyone asume that you can stop at the pits, refuel and keep on racing. That's great. If you talk about doing the same with an electric car it's some kind of heresy. Fuel tanks capacity do not allow more than 6-7 minutes of running tank. Why an electric have to be able to run for half an hour with a single batery pack?

Let's be fair, if gas cars can refuel, electric would have to be able to do the same.

No issues with electric cars being allowed to pit and change cells etc. but as twisty said the attraction is more of a noise and smell thing for me so I won't be rushing to buy one anytime soon.

As a matter of "what likes you most" everything is fine, some people will think that noise and smell aren't nice at all.

1/ that aint a tc
2/ its allot heavier
3/ to change packs would take forever it has 2 and it aint going to run competitivly for 30 mins on two packs

I agree with you in 2 first points BUT:

Since they are not touring cars but 1/8 buggies the use larger bateries with more volts and capacity.

Changing packs don't take so long, about 3-4 seconds per pack.

I do not understand you? Where's the matter?

1/8 use larger batteries than touring since they use two, so they have twice the voltage. That is the same as using a single 12 nimh cells or 4s2p lipo pack.

Also, with a bigger car you can use larger capacity packs (8000mAh) because room is not a worry for you.

In touring car 8000 mah lipos are diffcult to fit.

In spite Novak has designed their conversion kit to work with 15 volts the HV can handle even higher voltage.

Once more, I do not understand what the matter is Mark.

Personally i think those who choose electric have had 10th off road as an option for many years, when i raced 1/8th it was because it was NITRO! I still miss the sound and smell.

I think this option is great for individuals who want to race 1/8th for whatever reason, but do not like the move to nitro.

No damn clutches for a start!
