I raced my dex410v3 last weekend and iv noticed that the front left drive shaft is bent near the cv joint. Iv no idea how iv managed it but is it safe to straighten it.

I would,
have a spare in your box to be safe. |

I've done one before, it was by crashing neither. If you are landing off jumps and braking or accelerating hard then it can happen especially on high grip tracks.
Remember theirs no give with gear diffs and the only thing to protect the transmission is the slipper. I used to bend them all the time with a front one way in my B44. They are definitely worth carrying as a spare. ![]() |

One of my front shafts fully sheared off at the joint end for seemingly no reason at all!

I had the exactly same thing happen to mine after racing my V3 for the first time. Very strange. Mine was like the little ball with the pin through it had cracked in half.

I bought a new set of front driveshafts recently and one side was binding causing the drive pin to be pulled out every other run. The other side didn't bind but the pin came out and neither pins had moved and the grub screw was still tight???
I bought a new dogbone to replace the shaft that was binding luckily I had new axles as the in my box as they got chewed up too much to use. I'll be taking this up with TD as they were definitely sub standard. I never had any issues with the original kit shafts, I've changed nothing on the car from day one. This begs the question, are TD sacrificing quality control slightly to help them mass produce their now vast product range? There was virtually zero issues when they only had the 410. I know a fellow racer ditched TD cars for Kyosho due to the quality issues he had on his V3 compared to his original 410 in particullar the higher wear rate on the transmission parts. I'm not bashing TD before anyone gets on their high horse with rose tinted TD glasses!! |

I recently cast my eye over a 3 meeting old V3 the slop in the propshafts was what you would expect after a whole season.
I personally don't like the drive pins they are too short below flush any tollerance and they get dragged onto the cup. They should protrude slightly. I make mine out of piano wire grind the flat spot in them the same but leave them a little long them dremel them almost flush if the holes.are a bit worn it stops them from pulling in tje slight burr acts like a rivet too. |

I have a lot of wear in my centre rear driveshaft but none in my front! Will probably replace with the djoints when the time comes. |
