Just wondering if its possible to fit a lipo into a DX3C transmitter?
I'm going to be looking into getting either a M11x or an M12 in a few months, but in the meantime, i'm just looking for some kind of project to get my teeth into... Have trawled the web and cant find any info, but my Google skills have deteriorated lately, so any help would be appreciated. AC

Don't have a lipo unless you have a regulator. Spektrums take 6V and don't like 7.4 unless its the D3 etc models
Get a LiFe!! ![]() You need to open the TX and solder on a female end of a servo extender.... Presto done Get the smaller LiFe around 1500 mah lasts for AGES!! Something like this ONe Two unsure if this fits as I have one from ebay like the first one but measure the hole ** I did a dx3R today Ill try and do a guide + pics next time |

Got one of these 1000mah things in mine
http://www.vapextech.co.uk/acatalog/...Batteries.html works a dream and stays at 6.5v for ages. Plenty to do 3-4 all day events without charging. Turn off Tx even if the 10min warnout alarm goes off if you forget. Literally cut the female end off this http://www.maplin.co.uk/servo-extension-lead-48176 Cut the white cable off completely, cut the battery tray out of the Tx and solder the red and black wires on as needed. Job done |

Yep thats the easy way, I like trying not to destroy the trays so I take the screws out and take the tray out whole.
Otherhand that is the quickest way by far if you not worried about the tray and I presume if you sell it on then the next buyer wouldn't be to concerned about the upgrade |

just bear in mind if your transmitters manufacture says it takes 6 volts and you put 6.6 or 7.4 in it then you are breaking the BRCA general rules which makes it ilegal for any meeting you do from club to national if they are a BRCA club
i know as i was challenged at a 10th ic meeting for running a 3s lipo in my helios,(clarified by the BRCA) i had to prove that it takes 8 AA pencels which is 12volts, they argued it was 8 x 1.2v (9.6 volts) cells until i explained ko only recomend dry cells!

OMG seriously? I didn't even think of that. WHy? DO they think it will overload the electrics and cause fires or what?

Probably as they think thhe transmission power will go over it's rated value. Except it won't.

Does anyone have a link to the specific rule controlling this?
I've had a rummage on the BRCA site and it only refers to "General Rule 10" which seems to be pretty much none existent. Unless it refers to drive gradings. Which i doubt. |

Oh dear, this scream anal retentive. I appreciate rules are rules but is .6v (6.6v life vs 6v of AA's) really going to make any difference

will .3 of a volt make a difference on a fully charged lipo pack for example?

What if you discharge the battery before using it to 6V

Different thing altogether. An extra .3v on a lipo leads to a direct increase in performance. An extra .6v on a TX leads to exactly eff all. Or you'd not be allowed to use 8 cell TXs.......

Just put a 6V regulator in the circuit........
