if you need any help in setting the Tekin R1 up, drop us a PM too, I should have mine in the next 7/10 days. There are no heatsinks or fans needed, no Hal wire, it has a thermal identification to, plus an optional Hotwire that will allow you to adjust from a pc and up/download setups to.

Lee's Novak systems seem to have been pretty good this year, that's what i'm going to run over the winter. Hoping it won't take me too long to get used to it!

We are doing the 5.5 and 6.5 Redline motors..

We can also get the Brushed FX range and the hotter Redline Brushless motors.

After the tests with these sensorless speed controls and motors they were out performing there large rivals!!!!

There are a number of Tekin Factory drivers that come on this forum who can help if you need to ask any questions..

DCM
Woody
KevLee
Myself
BigRed
Modelimages

and im sure others will let you know!!!

I would like comparable experinces with diferent ESC vs Tekin R1 pro.

Which motor is mounted with Tekin, results? Compatibility with all sensored motors for example Novak or Orion. How it works with these motors?

Kevin Lee did't seem to run with Tekin last national, is that correct?

Tekin ESC R1 seems to be very good but why it doesn't needs heatsink or fan when for others is essential.

When we wll see on Tekin's web hotwire info?

I can't wait :-P

The Tekin kit isn't widely used yet, they've been working on it for quite a while!

I havn't used the Novak ESC's but they seem OK, they run a bit hotter than the LRP/Nosram ESC's. I race with Dan Greenwood and Chris Long quite a bit and haven't seen them have any problems with their Novak's. I've got an LRP 2007 in my 2wd and Nosram TC Spec in my 4wd, both have been very good.

One thing I can say is not to get an LRP/Nosram motor, they are OK when they are working but the reliability just isn't there at the moment and Horizon are being very awkward about replacing the two I have that have gone wrong.

The Novak motors seem to be pretty much bullit proof, the Orion/Peak motor looks good but the big holes in the can put me off trying one for the moment.

i had a nosram motor fail, (cracked a bonded rotor) mirage sent a replacment that i fitted, when i tried it the speedo opened its smoke canister and the motor did not work, called mirage and within the week had a new motor and speedo updated from matrix to 007 version all foc! so i can only praise them, the system has been fine ever since!!

I am not sure, but I think they offer a range of combo's (but don't quote me on that) with the Tekin unit. It is touch as they have had it running a truggy with a 11.1v Lipo conversion to.

Kevin Lee was sponsored by Horizon Hobby last season so no he wouldn't have used the Tekin..

But he has now moved to the Tekin Factroy team because he is liking the new products from them.

The R1 has yet to be released to the public which is why they are not around!!
It has been under development for a while because they wanted to make sure they released a product that didn't have any problems.

They are sensorless which doesn't transmit as much heat to the main speedo as other brands do. It also has new temp control built in.
These are new generation technology and will be near the top for sure this year.

All the LRP guys choose brushed...novak loved the brushless and still qualified 2nd, 6th and 8th respectivly.......

to me...thats enough evidence for the better speedo.

I can't fault the Nosram matrix 2007 I've been using, its great. I've seen other people have problems with the lrp/nsram motors etc, I've even had to lend my 6.5 out after woodys 6.5 nosram died. Personally I've not had any problems with the motors, only the old LRP which had the shaft spit out of the back of the motor.

hi i have been runing the novak brushless in both my 2wd and 4wd drive and have never had a problem.i have seen one other person with an lrp at the club have problems(although replaced promptly i must add) personly i think this is the most important thing as im just an average driver and to be honest cant really tell the difference in feel between systems.just my 2 cent

Sorry, did mean the Tekin (sensorless) run much cooler than the sensored...

Though saying that i never used a fan on the Novak or LRP at all last year!!
Never thermalled once.
Most of it is the driver and his thumbs in off road...

Don't race flat cars so couldn't tell you for them but im guessing hotter winds fan is essential.

Of the big three I don't believe anyone can argue that both Novak speedos and motors are more reliable, certainly the motors by an absolute mile. Good customer service is all well and good, but the rate at which you see blue and red motors braking is nuts.

I can tell you I wouldn't buy any new brushless system until I'd seen whether it had proved reliable or not. I would hope the Tekin is reliable after how long it's taken to get to Market!
