I know one chap who pre-ordered 2 at £750 from Fusion Hobbies. He may be eating rather poorly for a while...

Ah yes, but at least he'll get 2 exclusive cleaning brushes then, they're the bonus item in the first batch of export market kits. Tamiya collecting being what it is I can see them there brushes being worth a fortune on eBay in 20 years time

They are re-releasing the TRF511 in Japan. I think the only change they made is now it comes with gear diffs.

Other then that, I have not heard anything else. TRF201 is here to stay for at least one more year, and if they do make any changes to it they will be very subtle.

The 511 isn´t really a rerelease, only a second or third batch with a different number.
Regarding the 201, we saw a pic of a longer Chassis some time ago, will this ever be released? Has anybody got some info regarding this?

Tamiya USA is about a 30 minute drive from my house in Los Angeles.
Would you like for me to stop by there and ask them?
I can stop there next time I'm in Irvine. There is a big car delaership down the street from Tamiya USA who also happens to be a customer of mine. I can use business as an excuse to go down there and talk to someone at Tamiya. Would you like for me to go poking and prodding over there? I'm very good at gathering intel.

Alright! I'll do it!
The FedEx man just dropped off my brand new TRF201 to me yesterday so I am just as curious about the 201's future as all you guys are. I'll post back as soon as I find something out.

The new TRF511, ITEM 42213, has eventually been exhibited on Tamiya’s Japanese website.

RC Champ in Japan are the only one that have stock. But be warned, it is VERY expensive.
