Hello mate! Yes i must say Tom does build an awesome buggy lol we have traded and sold each other many cars in the past and not once have i had a car from him that hasn't been well built or looked after and his attention to detail is first class and this Optima is no different

I'm racing one of those at York vintage this year. I tried it after Batley regional and it really was good on kit tyres. Massive lift off oversteer but some run on on the throttle trim sorted that out

They were released simultaneously, I have a review of them both in an old magazine.

They were reviewed side by side in Radio Race Car International March 1988 issue (which probably means the car was released late '87 given delays to press and magazines annoying habit of publishing out of sync with the actual month!)

These don't look like the original tyres, are they supposed to be.

Compare them with the box photo.

Does the chain drive optima have original Sand Super tyres, if so, sell them separately, someone on ebay asking £75 for a set of 4!

No not kit tyres fitted to it i do have one pair of the bridgestone tyres that the Optima Mid in your kit box photo and the Turbo Optima Mid like i'm selling came with but the other pair had cracked and split with age - thanks for the heads up i did mean to mention that in the listing will change it now

I have 2 which are new and 4 which are part worn.. I have 2 more which are new, but someone cut the spikes off!!! probably an over zealous kid

I thought Del had mentioned the tyres weren't original. The problem with the bridgestones is that they crack even when new in packet. i doubt there are any uncracked ones left even in NIB kits

I have some of the Bridgestones, part worn. i don't think they are cracked (not looked at them that closely), but they have been squashed from being stored with something on top. I don't know if they can be rescued, perhaps with some foam inserts? It might be as simple as letting some air in?

My Sand Super are very bald!

Yeah fit some inserts in them and put them somewhere warm for a few days should come back into shape, but yeah the Bridgestones are bad for cracking even the ones that came with my NIB Lazer ZX were cracked. I know they come up for sale over in the US a bit but for silly prices once you have shipping on top so i think it's just as good to fit some new retro look tyres but some purists might not agree

I'd rather have tyres that looked good than were all cracked myself!

Has no-one bought this car yet??? It would rule in Vintage 4WD!
