I say ban Adrian Newey!

Button, Hamilton, Alonso, Rosberg, possibly Schumacher, even some of the newer drivers like Perez and DiResta (much repect to him for a great first season) in that car would have dominated this year.

As always, it gets closer towards the end of the year as other teams manage to copy what the top team are doing at the start of the year (look at how Brawn's car dominated the first half of the year when Button won the championship). I think it's a shame they change the rules so much year on year. If they stayed the same, the cars would be more competitive from the start of the year.

I would have loved to have seen Red Bull shelf Vettel, and put someone else (a rookie) in the car for the last few races as a test. That would have made it exciting for the rest of the season with button having to win every race to take the title. Vettel would have probably still won it though.

Driver Sponsorship does help in the lower / mid field teams where cash is tight. But many teams pay Millions a year for the best drivers regardless of their sponsorship.

Ross Brawn was asked why he paid Michael Schumacher £20m a year to drive for Ferrari. Brawn said that the only other way he could find half-a-second a lap would be to spend £200m on the car. Drivers are not the same, and that's why some get paid more than others. Yes, Di Resta's had a good season, but as fast a Vettel? Pigs might fly...

Not all drivers are the same. Webber has the same kit as Vettel, and the same opportunity to develop it, but look what's happened... three seasons on the trot...

I can't remember how many people said that Hamilton would hand Button his arse on a plate, including me. Yet Button is on the brink of being the first team mate Hamilton has ever raced with to beat him over a season. Now that is class - even Alonso couldn't do that.

If you want to see drivers compete against each other in the same cars, go watch Formula Ford. F1 is about technology and drivers, not who is the best wheelman alone.

The Rules are stable, we have the same set for the third season in a row. That works against Newey and Red Bull, because Newey is the world's best at being fast out of the box when the Rules change. Additionally, no one has the blown diffuser next season, and that might make Red Bull less competitive. When Ferrari dominated they were spending huge amounts more than the others, but now we have the Resource Restriction in place, people can't do that any more.

I don't think Vettel will dominate the way Schumacher did, the conditions are different now. Nonetheless, at the age of 24, he has at least 10 years left to race, so it would be difficult to bet against him giving Schumacher's numbers a challenge.

And talking of the seven-time champion, isn't it time he gave up the unequal struggle against time and left before he ruins what's left of his reputation? Great? Hardly even good by the time he's finished wrecking what aura he had left.

There is an article on the German auto page talking about the redbull car having an illegal underplate which flexes. Its all conjecture etc Apparently some photos of Sebs crashed car at Japan have added fuel to the fire.

(This is second hand I read it yesterday on a F1 news aggregator)

The cars are only illegal if the FIA say so and if their tests havent been able to find a problem, then that means Redbull (adrian newey) has just been smarter than the rest.

Same happened in 2009 with the brawn and couple of other cars...

I hope next years rule changes spice things up a little, but it rarely seems to make a massive change in the order we see. With any luck it will rein red bull back in a bit.

As for the drivers, to say vettel isnt a good driver is just plain BS, in fairness to the lad he's rarely needed to overtake because he's always at the front, hes just out of practise

I think hamilton has smashed a mirror or walked under a ladder or something because this year has just been horrible to watch for him. i hope he can get it back together for next year, because in my opinion he is the quicker driver out of him and button. Thats not to say button isnt good, i just dont think hes as quick as your Vettels and hamiltons of the world. the thing that really annoys me about him, you really need to keep him in a good mood, when he gets down in the dumps about something, he seems to stay in a rut for while until things go his way. Just look at the middle part of the season in 2009, he wasnt getting results like barrichelo was and in my opinion he scraped it.

So true! "Quit when you are at your peak"! And I really hope he doesen't seriously injure himself or others, I'm fearing that could very well happen...

And as to achieving another title... not only would he need the best car, he'd need a slower team mate as well >> could not be in the same car as half the field! Not gonna happen... unless there were to be a major tyre rule change, so he could go back to his very aggressive driving style... I mean, the guy used to drift his rear end, that's not something you'd wanna do these days...

Lots of great & interesting comments on here, you guys really have a good understanding of F1! Not many guys in Norway do regrettably, it's all soccer and cross country skiing

Any more rumours about a Kimi return? Just saw he had tested for Williams. And Renault is surely no option consired the negative media coverage about a possible drive for them last year? Barrichello seems to be hanging off a thin tread...

Also heard that Perez had testet for Ferrari, but OTOH I've heard Massa has contract for one more season.

Hoping for a seat for Sato, I love that guy! We need more characters in F1! Most drivers are way to A4 Even a grumpy finn is OK!

-that and using them would be great!
