Excellent meeting, everyone I spoke to thought the track was awesome and the Telstar Wall Of Doom went down really well, even though it looked really difficult, most people had it sussed after a few runs.

Loved the corner table top, top quality finish to a feature really makes all the difference. Slippy sections and the "bumpy" sections worked really well and just enough kickers to make it all drivable but interesting.

Well done Matty and everyone who helped make it all work, get booked in for the next one

To all that run this meeting. You guys and girls should be proud of yourselves. In my opinion, a fantastic first event to your winter series. The wall of Doom actually looked impossible to begin with and huge to say the least but added a talking point that tells me it is of interest!! With any feature you will get people making comments. The ones that drive the features good will love it and the ones that don't do it so good hate it or lets say dislike it - It is a natural scenario. I personally like it because one has to think about how to drive it quick and clean. Just make sure the marshals are on their toes here and are always alert! The layout was great and enough room for allowing faster cars through as well as overtaking in the finals. The hall is a good size allowing for a good size track. Small tip if possible. With pitting in other rooms other than the track it would be great for speakers in there to actually know what heats are running. Please just take this as a positive critism LOL

Lastly I wouldn't change anything - just a bit of polishing here and there this can be up there with the best of them. I recommend this event to everyone .....very enjoyable day

Another one to add to the list I'd like to attend.

You guys up near the home counties are spoilt for choice (time to move house!)

Just need a decent IT job up there (HP, Oracle, Microsoft etc. anyone?)

Well i disagree about the wall! i only crashed a few times on it all day, tq'd and won the final in 4wd, but still think it was rubbish to drive. I also think the 2 people that got stuck on the hose at the top of it for a lap while the marshalls struggled to reach it, wouldn't have found it much fun either!
Rest of the track was really good, but this one feature spoiled it for me!

brillant day racing i loved the big wall and it seems everyone else did too the wall added a feture you dont normaly experiance in racing and really made every driver think hard how to take it. next time make it bigger i know some may say its not racing but i think it adds that eliment of unkown into each race that is needed to keep it fun and competertive all round great day will amazing driving from most pitty about the 2WD A final but i think we have all said enough about the driving in that one

thanks again guys brillant day out i will be there next time without a doubt !

Telstar Racing Winter Series is very much on the map after a great 1st round. Track was very good, food was top notch and meeting was run very well.

For me it would be great to finish a little earlier, maybe kick Rd 1 off at 10 and only have 1 break during the day.

Thanks again to all who put in so much effort to make this event happen, roll on round 2.

James.

Well done and great first effort

I agree with the old boy about the PA, but we've discussed that already for next time.
I agree about the finishing time being earlier where possible, however always enjoy the relaxed atmosphere you created.
I don't like to comment too deeply on other clubs tracks as just by turning up and making an effort wins my vote as until you do it you've no idea! I think you're lucky to have such a willing and helpful team, Matt.
The only thing I would suggest in view of safety if the wall stays is to board both sides instead of hosing (you saw my arms!!) just to avoid any serious injury.

Matt

P.S. Did I read somewhere that you won a pint for BQ!?!?!?!?!?
Also who won best marshall

I drank your BQ pint mate
Best marshal was Liam Jackman because he did two stints every round standing in for others ...........you were a close second for your catching ability

Carl - ??? Not everyone likes the wall of Doom - read Richards post. What was wrong with the A Final - Darren and I had a great clean race? He was just a bit quicker but he is younger - LOL
It is a matter of opinions and i am sure Telstar will get it right after most have posted .

Matt - LOL - I said you was a superb mashal - heroik even!!!

Thanks for your feedback guys. We will take them on board and implement them where possible.

Yes I'm lucky to have a group of people who help with the setting up/packing away. Without them event like yesterday would not be possible. So a big thanking to them!

Yes the best Marshall competition sponsored L-M-Racing was won by Liam who received one of the new LMR Electra wings, with you a close 2nd however in the spirit of things I will also donate a LMR wing to reward your marshalling efforts. B1 reward was a pint of fosters, however as it's you I will make it your favourite brand!!

Hope to see you all on the 05 November.

Well I very much enjoyed the meeting, even if I ran out on energy at about midday .. was practically asleep driving the final and nearly went the wrong way down 1 way on the way out of the village!!

As for the track I think that evolution is all that is required. I spoke to Alec on the day and I think we agreed on that the carpet down the back straight needed to be a little better secured (easy to fix).

As for the WOD I personally would like to see the upper section a fraction (say 5deg) less vertical as that would help the guys who were struggling a little and echo Mr Owen's comment about boarding the sides.

Will see you for the next few meetings for sure, keep it up guys.

For those of you that thought about it but didn't go make sure your there next time .. you missed out!!

Was certainly a great start to the series with a track that made for some nice, flowing racing!

Running a winter series like this is new for the majority of the people involved so that's why it's important to get peoples feedback (Positive or Negative) and get some continuous improvement to make each meeting better than the one before...

I think for the first round, the main priority was to get the features constructed and the track layed, so things like the PA in the pits and a timing schedule to run to so people know when/what to head to the track is all scheduled to be improved/ installed for the next round plus a few things more!!!

Get booked in for the next round people, it's already shaping up to be a good one...

Details are on the Telstar Racing website

Is he running a race meeting on the 5th then

Great meeting yesterday, loved the wall of doom, the only downside with it was when you were following someone but think it worked great other than that and defiantly need a speaker I'm that top room.

Looking forward to round 2 already
