All that will do is increase the cost of doing Nationals.
At the moment, every racer can be sure that the tyres they buy for one national will be useable at the next national.

I do find that hard to swallow Dom, I mean, by the time you invested the time and the cash to get there, most are not gonna piddle about with old tyres, I know I wouldn't.

Must admit i don't know of many if any people using old tyres for Nat's?

It's only a suggestion, but at least that way Schumacher tyres wouldn't be used at just about every meeting you go to....... The pattern could follow with regionals and even Club meets if they're held at the same tracks so people could get used to using them there and obviously re-use the tyres from the National etc.... (just a thought).

Maybe it would be another way to get more money into clubs too if they were to tie themselves to a Tyre manufacturer? That way at least you'd know there was only one/two tyres to use at the club no matter what the meeting was and the club could get "sponsorship" from the manufacturers???

A lot of people were using old tyres at Southport. I used the same set all day in 4wd, and they were worn when I put them on.

People were going round the pits begging for worn tyres as they didn't have any.

I personally think it would be good to even out the Tyres a bit more so each main manufacturer gets one national where the tyres are to be used? You could have Schumacher, Ballistic, Proline, GRP, Losi and then for the 6th meeting it could be drawn from a hat.

Just an idea, i know it's not ideal to not use the best tyres for the specific track but people still seemed to like Kiddy without using BB Pins??

It would be the same for everyone at least.

that would be hellish expensive, different make for every meeting just wouldnt work. for example say kiddy national control tyre sch/blicks people buy enough before hand or on the first day to cover a standard race weekend, it rains and meeting is cancelled what happens to all the tyres you've bought as you can't used them at another national. what happens to all the tyres the shops have bought??

That's why i still think controlling it to say 2 sets and a 3rd for A-Finals would be a good way to do it.......

It was only an idea, i just think it's a shame one company has such a hugh monopoly of the Tyres we all use yet they don't support the 1/10th off road section in any other way???

Way to misinterperet me Steve.

I meant that any new tyres left over would be suitable for the next meeting.

Logisticly, that's a good thing.
Racers only need to buy one type of tyre, shops only need to stock one type of tyre, it's win-win!
I can't see a problem with that myself.

But £8 for a tyre that's been around since 1991....... with no development at all and no support given to any meetings or drivers - What do they give back to the sport??

Competition is always healthy if it drives down the price.

there plenty of place's selling for far less than £8 per pair.
why do they need to develope as the tyre works very well as it is and to say they don't give anything back to the sport, well its only in the last couple of years sch havent run some sort of series or had 1/10th cars around. models expo for example. they provided all drivers with free tyres.
a lot of people run losi rear wheels to go with there sch tyres but don't hear people asking why arnt losi giving something back to the sport? same thing imho.

diff make of tyre just won't happen. its one reason the brca 1/10th committee decided to have a say in what tyre was selected by the club for nationals.

No Carl, I choose NOT to use new tyres, after all I have a box full of new Yellows

People ran old worn tyres because they thought it was better, me included.

I am coming at this totally from a price point of view. We do need more competition to drive down the price of tyres. They are damn expensive, even with discounts for bulk buying. If you look up "Cash Cow" in the dictionary it says "See Schumacher mini-spike"

I agree, but the current system pretty much precludes competition.
It does, however, make it easier for both racers and shops to plan the racing season.

I dunno about that Dom, not like you are going to order 500 pairs of Yellow Schumacher rears at the start of the outdoor season is it. You buy stock to go to each race and hope to sell the lot there, and pre-orders too, so I can't see that as a valid argument. I would guess you could easily split the season half and half to allow a new tyre in and force a price limit via the BRCA if needed too.

There are already different tyres for one venue (Tiverton), granted this may not be an issue next year as the venue may not exist, but is it such a big problem to have different tyres for one, maybe two tracks? At least it's let somebody else have a go at the off-road tyre market, rather than one manufacturer having a monopoly over it.
