Rule 10, General rules, page 15

Quote:
10. Radio Equipment The BRCA recognises the UKRCC as the national authority for the UK on radio equipment. The BRCA will work within the rules and guidelines specified by the UKRCC RC Equipment must be used in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines. Any modification to any component that may affect performance and/or power of original equipments is specifically not allowed. This applies especially to the aerial and power source.

Only published frequencies are allowed (see Handbook). The reversal of crystals is not allowed
So Mark, you are breaking the BRCA rules.

no, as the FCC as certified Spektrum, but running LiPo is changing it's power source, like you are not allowed to 'add' a cell either.

Applies specifically to the Aerial and Power Supply....

The aerial of a Spektrum module is in accordance with the modules gudelines, and I guess there is a reasonable amount of sensible discretion to those who had modified trannies to fit.

But Power Supply is different, no point in bothering to change it so the discretion I would presume won't be used and a penalty to him anal enough to want a lipo tranny.... its like cracking nuts with a sledgehammer. LOL

I can understand why the LiPo, but rules is rules, moving an aerial isn't changing the 'performance' of a spektrum system, just protects the aerial better.

But who makes the lipo?? If KO make the lipo for he system surely it is legal as it just like upgrading to spektrum or buying 2700 batterys instead of 1600 batterys.

Ash, no, The KO was made to be powered by 8 AA cells, whether dry (1.5V) or rechargeable (1.2V). If KO did do a lipo pack, then fine, but I really don't think they do. The problem with running a higher voltage is that you can get signal blled over to neighbouring channels or signal swamping, hence the ruling.

From my interpredation of the rules, even if KO did make the lipo, it would still be illegal. The tranny would have to be supplied new with it fitted as standard.
