Cheers, goes rather well now and im quite happy with it, only problem is I cant use mini pins on carpet as it has too much grip even for me and I like major steering. So mini spikes instead , but should be good if I hit Eden Park on a hot day and lets hope HKP does a vintage event there soon as I will be there.

Anyone in the Lazer thread doing the Petit event in January, and if so are you running your Lazer ZX/ZXR's? I will be.

Iso,

Ive designed a belt tensioner for the front belt on the zx / zxr mk1 and its basically a redesigned L brace. This is needed to handle a 6.5 or 5.5 motor. Im using the rear gear box zxs belt tensioner as its an exact length. Looks rather good to. Now to get two bearings for a thorough test..

Awsome welsh...i was thinking of using the post from the tf4 basicly the same as in zxs kit.

Did see the droop that you had and its way more then on mine...

was it so that you had the yataba arena setup sheet ?? wold like to have a peek at that.

Yes its me, but the shocks used were protos and are basically the velvet shocks that have recently come out. They also used Kyosho springs and oils but its in Japenese so you may struggle a bit. I will dig out this weekend and scan over to you.

Yes I had more droop but the top deck on mine in that picture is 1mm shorter than yours. Im rectifying at the moment as I have now gone 1.5mm longer and the belts too tight. Work in progress but I intend to have a taught belt with the tensioner attached so the one way is free and the front wheels spin without problems. I will post a picture of the L brace on the weekend.

Droop on the rear end of the ZXS is due to the longer shafts on the TRF511 shocks, and give more down travel which helps a lot. Front have a lot even though it doesnt look much but then again the kick up plate hides the true amount of height. Have you driven it yet?

You will find on clay / dust the overall design width is fine and is better than a YZ10 as proven when this was the car that beat the current worlds master Masami for the Japanese natts title and he was running the YZ10. But if your using on high grip like astro turf you need to add substantial weight around the gearbox and widen the front hexes by almost double the width (almost), and the rear end is the standard width as this give more stability on the front and makes the rear end more user friendly so tends to follow the front when you through it into a corner.

On carpet I just cannot get a good setup for it to be driven fast as it over grips and rolls, no matter how many rows you cut off the front and rear and the roll bar doesnt work no matter how hard or soft it is (Dan Greenwood can vouch for that)the car is just stupid as I get unbelieveable steering with the mildest castor blocks and I like twitch city with my cars already but this is in another dimension and I cant drive it for front end grip roll I get with mini pins, hence why I use mini spikes. The Tamiya shocks have helpded drastically compared to the Kyosho, Associateded and Traxxas TRX1 shocks so would recommend buying a set and going from there.

Hope this is of use to you matey.

Zxr set up is with trx1 shocks but wont be far off using gold option house shocks with mip blue seals. May need to go softer by ten weight.

Front oil 60wt 2 holes (May be worth trying 40 wt 1 hole piston)
Schumacher old grey springs
Ujs level
7.5 caster block
1 degrer camber

Rear oil 40wt 3 holes (May be worth trying 30 wt 1 hole piston)
Schumacher old white springs
Ujs level
Tie rods level with wishbone.
Roll bar down to you
1 degree camber

Hope its a good staring point.

Out of curiosity my ZXS proto that I haven't used, what would you say I would get for it? £750 for or ? I really have got to sell it or strip it down for spares, so if anyone out there is after one of most probably ten ever made now there is an opportunity to get it.
Picture of this buggy is on page 80 of this thread. I have lowered the costs to the lowest price possible and will go no lower than £600 to your door?

If anyone out there is after one of most probably ten ever made now there is an opportunity to get it. Let me know.

Fibre lyte should be able to sell it and kyosho part numbers are (96473 bearings and LA112 post set) but will call fibre lyte to ask if they can add to the pics.

Tensioner and bearings are from a lazer zxs gearbox, the rear belt tensioner.
