Default KO handset charging.

OK why can’t I charge both the KO vantage chargers I have? I used to think it was the handset (even though Derek Bailey assured me the charging circuit was fine) but I’ve recently got another one which does the same thing.

I’m using a pukka KO charging lead bought from Dom last year and all my chargers (Millenium, Pulsar and Tekin) all refuse to charge saying whatever battery connection error code they use.

???

Dan

If you wanna come see me Fri i can try it on my charger, i have a proper KO/Futaba lead and works perfectly on my handset, it seems like yours might be busted as you changed everything else??

Ah ive had this and so has carl lathem at bury we both where trying to charge KO's and i got battery connection failer or something and carl had something similar. I dont know how you stop it for sure but i have a felling nothing solid but i think if the battery is to low it wont charge as mine was completly dead and wouldnt charge i charged them on 230 mains AA battery charger and then charged on my charge next time and it worked. I dont know if it was because it was two low but i have a suspition it was that but i use a 230 charger now as i charged it on my orion advantage and it peaked and it only lasted about 20 mins. Also what capactiy batterys have you got in it???

I have a wall charger I'll bring on Friday Dan, we can try that and since I am 100% sure it works fine on my Vantage, it'll rule out whether its something your doing or dodgy circuitry in the tranny.

All I do now as remove the cells and charge them in a charger at 4 at a time, it does them individually and the voltage peaks higher. I had a feeling that charging them through the tranny allowed them to fall out of balance - they are unmatched cells afterall.

Chris

Interesting, I wondered if it was the chargers, will come and see someone. Thanks for the offers!

Chris I agree about the cells going out of balance I have one of those individual AA cell chargers but it's the hassle/wear on the connections and covers I don't like. Also if/when I go to Spektrum I don't think the voltage is as important like on a conventional radio so a peak every couple of weekend in the field and take them out every 4 months would do it nicely I think.

Oh they are 8 2300mah cells or something.

I have had the same problem charging my sanwa gemini. The problem was resolved by turning down the charge current to 0.5amps the start, moving upto around 1.0amps after a few minutes. All has been fine since

Isn't there something in the rule book about changing the power supply of transmitters? Personally I feel no reason to change to Lipo in the tranny, and certainly not while clarrification of the BRCA rules is required on this topic - be gutted if a result was revoked due to interpretation of the rule book.

infact, no clarrification of the rule book is required for me, it simply is not necessary, end of.
