It's absolutely throwing it down here, thunder, lightening, the full works. Needless to say racing has been called off for the day. We're rained in at the moment but there is some japery outside which Roundy is involved in.. Anyway all the storms have affected the ISP so some connection is intermittent and that is why the official website is affected.

That's a shame.

Will they be dropping a quali round or getting the remainder done tomorrow?

Shame about dropping the round as that really puts the pressure on those that have had issues.

Ahhhh man, jorn, in the lead and your motor dies, we have all had it, but in the worlds A. Would be looking up to the sky and asking-why, what did I do?

it was one of those meetings where Neumann was dealt with the cruelest luck.

leading A1 when motor died.

leading A2 when car mono'd under power and crashed.

As stated earlier the US won. Until they change the rules to the way the track is built the US will always have the advantage.

Jimmy and Vicky are working on it, there was some recovering to do after Sunday night.....

We spent all day Monday getting home, not getting back to oOple HQ until after 1am, don't worry it's on the way

TBH I don't think it is just the track type, if you look at how much club racing and practice the US drivers do before a main event, More than a few times you will read that they will club race 3 to 4 times a week before the event, you just can't do that here, you could do a sunday meet then poss one mid week, but how far would you be traveling? before 8th worlds I have heard of pavidis tebo etc being at the track 8+ hours a day

As for surface, we could run more dirt in the uk,we used to,we are not the only ones that get rain, world japan, 8th world in us few year ago WET! dirt tracks are quite easy to maintain,BUT you do need another option if very wet.

Yes ok, Iown up I HATE astro

hats off to all the uk team, fantastic job Great stuff

I know Masami did a lot of practice runs a day before the worlds as well but if these guys are supposed to be the best then no worlds warm ups should be allowed and just dirt tracks is way unfair so should be anything that the country in question decides to set up. So if in the uk we could have the option for astro as these drivers are supposed to be the best then lets see it. The us guys wont come first then.

I agree about the region part. Its a no brainer that when ROAR is the host it will be a dirt track, and FEMCA has a mix of types, but in the EFRA region we have relatively few tracks of a suitable size to host the worlds on a dirt surface.
This means if the UK was to host again we would have to purpose build a track, which is a lot of money considering it wouldn't be much use except for the worlds due to our great weather.
Its not about the right surface for our drivers, so much as the right surface for our host clubs.
