It's there for everybody to see, by off road racing I don't mean a full clay indoor track, you know that I don't mean that!

Why do people always go on about newbies?

If clubs catered for people that already drive rather than for somebody who might want to race once or twice then never again then the north east might have some more successful clubs, other than that they will continue to be un-supported as they are?

Ya dig?
The videos that are linked, are from the first time we used the hall and like all things, set-ups need changng to suit the surface.

You asked what can be gained by racing in a hall like we do! Well to me racing on low grip tracks and flowing tracks learns you throttle control, overtaking and being able to keep your place under pressure from the car behind. which is the same on every surface.

If tracks were all jumps and bumps it becomes a case of who can get round and not who is the fastest and it's not very enjoyable too 95% of the club racers. That in turn makes numbers go down and the club can't pay the bills.

We do cater for all our members, and build tracks that they like to race on and suit the venue.

How can you say the club isn't successfull? we have more members now than in the last 10 years and the club is financally safe for the forseeable future.

The biggest problem with the north east at present is they're are lots of drivers, but a few don't race and support the local clubs which provide a competetive regional series.

Well said Mike, for a club that caters for buggies and saloons, we have gained a few new members for both camps. Most regulars are happy with the surface, and the way the club is run, by the racers for the racers. Long may it continue.

From along termer. (the start of the club)

I'm hoping to pop along next Monday night to see what it's all about so hope to see a few buggies, suppose it's hard to have 2 types different class racing on the same track!
if you think you can beat the buggy guy's chris get yourself along on a monday, and show them how it's done, or better still instead of criticising the efforts of the guy's at tyne met that have saved one of the oldest clubs in the country start you own club, and you can see whats involved in running a club
or you could just do what you normally do, and don't even both trying the club out, and just sit behind your computer complaining about a club, and venue that you have never been to

the reason people keep going on about newbies is because without newbies there would be know clubs for you to complain about.
just remember everyone was a newbie at some point, even you, or were you born a superstar

keep up the good work guy's you should all be proud of what you have.

Wondered when you would crawl out of your hole how can I profess to be a superstar as I'm only an F5? I'm well up for going to a club to get some practice in and keep myself active so Monday nights will be great!

How come everybody is so defensive anyway? Doesn't sound like a friendly club?

Let me know when your going Nobby, I might be washing my hair that night

go whenever you like chris you won't be bumping into me.
i'm not racing anymore i'm bored so i'm done
as for being defensive, people are just defending there club, and the hard work they have put in to the club.
it's like somebody saying you are shit eletrician, and your work was crap, i'm sure you would defend yourself, and work.
you ask what good it would be racing on a flat track?
well any stick time is good for you so get yourself along, and try the club out you will enjoy it

Default Monday Racing.

Hi guys! just your usual reminder for tomorrow night. I'm not sure if Mark is back, we'll just play it by ear, like the last couple of weeks which I think went vey well. If we ALL muck in it won't take long to set up. See ya there!

Good to hear Ray's been keeping you all in check while I've been away and that Bill, Peter, and Nigel have all been back racing. We can do without the negative comments tho Chris especially since you've never been along too the venue yet. If you come along and dont like it thats your opinion but dont diss something you know nothing about. People read this and we've worked hard to rebuild the numbers and can do withoutnegative comments putting off potential members. Cheers for those of you defending the club. We are a friendly club as and always want and welcome "newbies", just ask any of the numerous new members we've attracted since the move.
Anyway I'm back this week and hope to see all of you there for some close competition again.

Negative comments? He simply stated his opinion based on videos posted within this thread! I think He is looking to gain as much practise as possible for 1:10 off road racing and Was looking to race here!

He didn't say people had not worked hard and that it was a poor club. He actually hit the nail on the head. It's not an off road club, it's a touring car club which welcome all members, even 1:10th off road.

At the end of the day if you post videos of your club on a forum then be prepared for comments and opinions!

Alright all, I used to race years ago but I've been gone for a long time. Just found a hot bodies cyclone during a house move. I've no idea if I can make it raceable but I plan on being down next week just to show my face and say hi. Fingers crossed I can get the hb workable it'd be nice to save £300 getting back into the hobby.

I feel we need to end some of the comments.

I've spoke to chris over the weekend and i believe his comments haven't come over the way which it was intended.

To defend the few which have responded though these are people who are devoted to their club and except feed back if it's constructive.

Neil I don't think you can really call it either class as we have just about equal members of both.

I've extended our hand and welcomed chris and anyone else for that matter to join us on a monday night and experience first hand the venue and surface.

On a side note the video uploaded onto my website & youtube is from the first time we raced at the hall and as we all know it takes time to find a setup and the best tires.

If you wish to come along please do so and most people run yellow/soft full spikes in buggy and yellow mini pins for touring cars.

Mike

Well 13tc's turned up tonight and No Buggies.
Good to see Ian Watson back racing and you wouldnt have thought he had been away taking the lead and holding it in the first heat.

Was it just me or was there a lack of grip tonight? maybe the college had decided to give the floor a polish???

Some good close racing in the heats- the younger drivers- Kyle,Matthew and Owen with some improvement in their driving.
James Davidson and Mark Fairbairn making it into the A final whislt "the old man"Ray had a bump on lap 4 of his final heat which snapped his steering idler which dropped him down to the B final.

The A final's saw Phil Haines taking first in both legs and Gary Armstrong nailing second in both legs.

Ray wasn't up and running for the first leg of the B final so i managed to take first with Peter Anderson second.
The second leg of the B final and Ray managed to get his car fixed and took the win, Peter was on course to take second until his tyre come off which let me into second and take the overall win in the B final

A Final Overall Results.

1. Phil Haines
2. Gary Armstrong
3. Ian Watson
4. Mark Richardson
5. Mel Chatton
6. Mark Fairbairn
7. James Davidson

B Final Overall Results.

1. Mal Richardson
2. Peter Anderson
3. Owen Dixon
4. Ray Macaulay
5. Matthew Anderson
6. Kyle

See you's next week,

Mal

What tyres are you guys using on the touring cars? Also, any motor limits etc applied (finger crossed for a : "No")
And.... is my 1998 Schumacher Axis going to be any good against the modern stuff?

Ok this seems to be getting out of hand - all started by Dalton simply enquiring about the club.
“You guys got any photo's of the track ect ? im looking for a buggy race now and again”
To this Mal posted a couple of vids. Now I’m sure Dalton is capable of making his own mind up from the vids without anyone appearing to try to influence his decision which is how Chris’s comment came across
“Not really off road though is it? More like drift racing, I can't think what skills that surface can give you to go racing real off road on a high astro track?”
I’m sure it wasn’t meant to put off Dalton but that’s the way it came across, sufficient to even prompt a response form Mr Laidback himself Westy.
Look at it from the other side Neil, I’m guessing you race Jarrow right? So a potential new racer enquires about your local club with a view to coming along, someone posts a vid and having never raced or even been to your club I post on your forum a commentbased on the video in reply to the potential new racer, “ I can't think what skills that surface can give you” - I’m sure that’d get a response from your members
The negative comments I was referring to are-
“Why do people always go on about newbies?
If clubs catered for people that already drive rather than for somebody who might want to race once or twice then never again then the north east might have some more successful clubs, other than that they will continue to be un-supported as they are?” which is hardly likely to make anyone thinking of getting into the sport feel confident to come along, It would suggest to me that experienced racers don’t want novices and also at Clarky “Wondered when you would crawl out of your hole” which I’m sure is toungue in cheek but again would suggest to anyone who doesn’t know these guys that there’s lots of in-club bickering, again hardly likely to attract new racers - you agree Neil?

We’d love to see anyone racing here of any ability whether it’s a n “newbie”, Dalton, you, or Chris who incidentally has been promising to come along since we moved venue - right Chris?
We all need as many racers as we can get to keep clubs going and have attracted a fair few since moving and starting this thread so I just don’t really want anything on here that may discourage people be it unintentional, tongue in cheek or whatever.
Please all of you come along and check it out for yourselves and make up your own minds but please don’t post anything which may put off potential racers to ANY club!
