A little while ago I brought an old Yokomo YZ-10 which I have since been restoring & re-building the car to its former glory.
Thing is, on posting pictures of it on the vintage forum 'RC10talk' it became apparant that this car is the unusual & rare 93 WCS model. In the advert for the car it was described as a 'prototype' model similar to that used by Masami Hirosaka to win the 93 World Championship held here in the UK at Basildon. Indeed the WCS was a replica kit of this winning car released in very limited numbers - & due to its cost very few made it onto our race tracks.
On speaking to the guy that sold the car to me it seems that my particular car may have been one of the first pre-production cars that were handed to Yokomo drivers for the Worlds event - so may have even raced at Basildon!! The car I have found out belonged to a racer called Stuart Collard who donated the car to Southend model car club - to sell on to raise funds.
My question I guess is can anyone out there remember this car & maybe know of its history... I understand that Stuart was a handy driver & hung around with some of the top drivers of the day & may have aquired the car this way.
I know Ellis Stafford & Richmond Rodgers were both CML drivers around that time & both Essex based - so maybe it was one of theirs???
Any info would be great
Some pics of when I first got it;
As it looks now after a re-build
