what's the difference between having a 10.5T with a 25 pinion and having a 8.5T with a 20 pinion ? (or any similar example)

8.5T with 25 and 10.5T with 30 pinion you mean?

Obviously a difference in power, but a 8.5T with a 25 pinion (2wd) is a very easy to manage and still fast combination. Imho the way to go. A 10.5, even with adapted gearing, is nice when just starting with the hobby, but is truly underpowered for most race meetings.

The 8.5 will make you think you're fast. The 10.5 will make your lap times fast.

(Gear up 5 teeth on both)

k, so if I change pinion/spur ratio to get the same top speed, the difference will be the torque (and power consumption) ? thanks.

so... i see two stupid ways to get better on a slippy track with my 7.5T

1) I get a 18 pinion instead of my 24, and I loosen my slipper A LOT.

=> slipper burn !

2) I put a 26 pinion and a 75 spur instead of my 81, and I put the ETA of my radio @ 50%

=> motor/ESC burn !

I'm just wondering which one is the most stupid.

filmed some laps @ kampenhout three days ago. clearly not the best ones, and I definitely need a slower motor (tried playing with the EPA yesterday, and @ 85% it's night and day ! Top laps maybe a bit slower, but average laps a lot better, and a lot less mistakes)

Dirk in the background, like last time.

Looking good!

What camera is this, did you mount it on your head? Looks like a wide angle lens.
