Default Vega B4.1 vs X6 vs C4.1

I consider converting my B4 to mid-motor, so the choice is among X6, Vega and the upcoming C4.1.

What's your thoughts on pros/cons of each option?

For me, it looks like this:

X6
+ proven, lots of info, stick lipos (no need to buy saddles), cheap
- setup is very different from rear-motor B4 (need to play a lot with settings to match my pretty dialed B4), many proprietary parts (some of them are easy to break eg wing holders)

Vega
+ cool'n'shiny :-), easy to convert, setup is not very different
- requires saddles, new/unproven

C4.1
+ as per vega plus proven in the recent BRCA events
- unavailable (but I am ready to wait couple of weeks)

seems to me you have covered all the options. if you dont want to buy new lipo's then its the X6.
if your not confident about your own setup ability then again more setup info on the X6.

if you dont mind new lipo's and you are happy to work on setups then C4.1 or vega.

if you want a proven national winner, then its X6 or C4.1.

other considerations are the amount of spares you already have, the X6 uses more of its own parts than other B4 conversions.

As we pit with Tom yardy and i have seen the development of the C4.1 over the winter and into the start of the nationals i am of course slightly biased towards that car.

thanks! Buying lipo is not a problem, of course, I would prefer to keep the current ones, but it's not a big deal.
How different is C4.1 vs. Vega? From what I can see from the pictures, they are quite similar.

I have run the X6 and now just started to test the vega, and the engineering quality on the vega is outstanding. Setup support is limited at the moment, but will grow. I started out with the original X6, and my feeling at that time was that the amount of dremeling and quality of parts were not that good, but all that has been rectified with the latest releases, I understand.

also a plus for the vega that it uses a lot more of the original b4 parts than the x6. That is an issue for me at least, as I have 3 sons all running b4's.

I'm gonna throw a spanner in the works now..

I have two x6 sq's and out of all of my cars they are the easiest to drive and own. Mantinence is easy and parts are cheap enough. The wing mounts are made with a softer plastic so arn't a problem anymore and eveything else is bomb proof. One of the things I like the most is how easy and fast it is to change rear toe and anti squat.

Now the thing is to convert to an X6 can be expensive. Yes the kit is cheaper but you still need other bits to get the best out of it like Hangers and the longer axles so you can add an extra £25 there. BUT you can get a second hand x6 sq with all those bits and losi shocks for £150 or less so I'd keep the B4 as it is, buy a used x6 and use whats left of you're budget to buy electrics, then you have the best of both worlds

The X6 is a lovely car to both build and drive, i used to run one myself until it just got very old and worn out forcing me to switch to another car.

over the last few months i have been racing and pitting with Tom Yardy and i have watched the C4.1 gradually grow into a superb looking car, as the last national at RHR proved all 3 C4.1s made the A and respectfully finishing 1,2 and 4 .

Honestly... Pick whichever one you like the look of the most, they're all good cars, and the two newer ones are proving themselves already... Set ups will develope as time goes on...

I personally think the C4.1 looks the best, i loved the S2 back in the day though so thats why

Alternatively... Keep your B4 as is and try an ansmann x2c for the price of the other conversions...

look at set up help and back up, the c1 has the top uk associated pilots and cml/fastrax backing
the x6 is suported well, and although an "old" design still works, and set the trend were seeing now

It's quite strange nobody is recommending Vega.
I would LOVE to buy C4.1, but it is not yet available, while the season is starting.
still, it looks like it is worth waiting

Got my Vega B4 today, what a piece of kit!

The quality and finish on the conversion are second to none

The alloy gearbox is a work of art, it comes with the extra idler gear, bearings and diff bearings too and all the hardware to complete

There are not any other conversions with an alloy gearbox and all that carbon

Well worth a look and it's in stock, give Team Xtreme a call to check first

If you want something now thats proven its an X6, BUT! is there another hop up due with new rear end ?
I have heard people say they have tested all 3 Vegas and the kyosho one is the best, which doesnt help you.

And the C4.1 is not available yet but does look TASTY

Not really the best day for me and I didn't show the C4.1 design off to the best of it's or my abilities. The car I ran was the first prototype created by Yardy way back in the winter. It ran a carbon chassis set-up and B4 style gearbox internals.

I think the wider view is the alloy chassis obviously gives a lower CoG and therefore handles much better. That's not to say the car I ran was poor, that was more me on the day.

Arrow c4.1

Yardies c4.1 in the recent oople race report looks amazing...I know its still final stage proto but it looks really serious...with so many mid motor chassis kits out these days I think a lot of it comes down to personal preference, although saying that....my cr2 se just winked at me across the work shop....classic mid 2wd....I hear so many good things from vega owners I feel xfactory are gonna have to step the heat up very soon...and that's from an x6 owner.

The choice is becoming wider in mid 2wd and that is brilliant for us all...trouble is they all look nice...proofs in the drive I guess

I hear the bank account wincing again

I think when you evaluate you have to look at a lower ability rather than look at Bradder winning at RHR. He probably would of won anyways as he was right up there last year there and doesn't exacly go slow with his standard B4, as proven by winning the Petit race!
I don't agree the C4.1 is proven anything.
I got 22nd at the first National with my Kyosho Vega and I was dissapointed.
Please don't misunderstand - the C4.1 looks good but the Vega is Great

My biggest problem with the vega, is how to buy one! Go onto team extremes website, they only seem to do pred stuff!!! The C4.1 seems to have much better advertising on CML's website. Sorry if this seems like a negative comment??? The vega does look very nice, but it would be great if some better advertising/website structure was in place at team extreme to deal with paying customers like myself who they need to snap up.

Off my soapbox now.

you have a point and i am sure all 4 c4.1 drivers would have been in the high finals irrespective of the chassis they used, had this thread been about the kyosho vega then yes it goes well, but we are talking about a B4 conversion, the front end/gearbox internals/shocks are completely different. in effect we are talking about two completely different cars. you can base an opinion that as they share the common chassis and other parts that if the kyosho vega is good then the B4 vega should also be good. but you know the difference even a small change can make to a cars handling and general driveability, it could be that the b4 vega is actually better than it kyosho sister of course the opposite could be true.
