As we all know the Moto Arena guys are not great on communication. The mezz floor still hasn't been extended, and the week that they were closed the work the did have done did not start until the Thursday.

If you planning to go to the Moto Arena on a day other than an arranged race day then give them a call!!

Silverstone Moto Arena is a fantastic venue and no one wants the place to succeed more than me, but let’s all wake up and smell the roses it survives on us the public walking through the door and take it from me the public are loosing faith.

I’m not trying to insult anyone just stating what so many people are thinking and saying.

I think ultimately we now know that MA are not always great at communication..

Best to check before you travel unless its a known event taking place..

Not sure people are bitching, if the website says its normal opening hours are 10-6 you kind of expect it to be open.

Everything that is mentioned on here, is most of the time past from one person to another, and in some cases is far from the truth.
Yes, the communication hasn't been great in the past.... but. They don't pay someone to spend there time on every forum to let people know they will be open/closed. 10/15 people walking in on a sat/sun won't keep the place open.

Any clubs holding events/nights at Moto Arena will be notified if anything effects them. They will be responsible in letting YOU know if there is/isn't a meeting.

As for bitching.... look through 90% of the threads on here and most of them has some form of bitching/criticism there.
They need to have work done and sadly for the few people that come on here or any other forum, they don't need to post everything they do....

The only reason i have posted anything, is the fact that clubs do use the facility and if every time people post negative comments those clubs will stop running meetings as numbers will fall.

I think the problem is that the motor arena is a business, and as a business they advertise that:

Normal opening Hours : Mon 10am -6pm, Tues - Fri 10am - 6pm
Saturday - Sunday 10am til 6pm

Thats on the website not a forum.

I really enjoy going to the motor arena, and Silverstone run a great night on a Tuesday, but unfortunately I don't think the MA will be around for any length of time. It's easy to see that as a business it's not working.

I think Moto Arena is an excellent place, great facilities and very welcoming staff. One thing I would say is that if a business cannot successfully engage with it's customer base then it will fail.

In this country it is a proven fact they if someone is unhappy with a service/business they will tell 9 people, and only 3 people if they like the service/business. What Moto Arena doesn't want to do is get a bad name for itself.

It is no excuse in this modern age that they couldn't update their own website (completely agree with you John about posting on every RC forum). I once sent them a question via their online form and never heard anything.

Every person that use’s the facility puts money in the till, for all you know those 10/15 people may buy something from the shop or use the Cafe, all money in the till you don’t get if the doors are closed.
If they are only interested in club meetings then don’t advertise it as a open to the public from 10am-6pm.

Matt,

I am not on here to make excuses, far from it. What i am trying to get across is there is so much criticism that anyone posting from Moto Arena is pointless on here.
If they was to post Closed, there would be 10 people asking why, 5 people saying the place is closing down etc etc....

As you have posted below from the MA website: NORMAL opening hours, this does not state strict opening hours.
Believe me when i say that things can be much better, and they are the first to agree. But, if the place was built just for us racers then it would not be on such a scale.

There is much more to the business model and your post at the bottom is my point. Putting such things as they won't be open long etc will make people ask why etc, then rumours start.......

Everyone is entitled to say what they think etc and that is freedom of speech. But what you have in Northant's is a fine RC venue which will only improve. If it is there for 2 years or 10 years it will always improve, so rather than waist time posting guessing work just enjoy it.
Sadly due to health and safety etc the venue is unable to open when some building work is going on.

It would be much better if people where to post things they would like to see at the venue etc.... they will be read and spoke about.

This is the first business of it's kind in the UK, there will be issues. But i am sure most people start off slow at new jobs etc.... Give them a chance.

For now if anyone is thinking of going to the arena then call them direct (number on website) or look at the relevent clubs thread/website.

John I completely disagree with what you say about Moto Arena actually posting on this forum - businesses must connect with their customers whether that be at the venue or via social media channels.

If they don't comment even just to say sorry it's sends signals to everyone that they just don't care. Every business that is based around a hobby/passion brand needs to have a social media strategy for dealing with such cases as this, and showing their customers that they care as much about the hobby as we do.

Basically, come on Moto Arena pull your finger out, you can do better.

Alan,

Firstly, no one mentioned they was only interested in club meetings (once again someone assuming).
Secondly, the website as Matt has stated says 'Normal opening hours' this is normally in place for such things like bank holidays etc.... Some places have large signs that state 24 HOURS... just went up there and they was closed!!!

If, that is IF you have read my above posts. People put constructive comments then they can be acted upon or looked into. But like most forums many people like to criticise and hide behind a computer. I attend many events at Moto Arena, and if i am honest i have never seen anyone speak to the staff or management about issues etc.....

But this thread has started from the fact that Moto Arena iis/was closed over last few days and people want to know why !!!

I am sure MA will update there website for any further closures, but people will still turn up and blame them for something else.

Anyway, i have had a great weekend racing my toycars. so now off to enjoy some time with the family.

Royal,

What should they apoligise for ????

Improving the facilities for RC enthuisiast's ????
I think the facility itself is a large part they care...

I don't see Horizon Hobby, CML, Schumacher to name a few posting on here for the delay of products etc....
Sadly in the real world things like forums are best left for the gossip....

They have a website and a facebook page which is the norm for companies nowadays, look on there or pick up the phone.

I think what people would like, is if they have 'opening hours' then you would 'assume' the place to be open, and not closed unanounced on the companies website. But, if you are doing a long trip to get there, phoning prior would be the sensible thing.

Just got to keep their Webpage AND Facebook up to date, simples.

That again comes down to communication - We will be closed the following days due to building work......

The motor arena is a corporate hospitality venue, who also cater for racers. This weekend was a normal weekend for most of us.

There is much more to the business model and your post at the bottom is my point. Putting such things as they won't be open long etc will make people ask why etc, then rumours start.......

People can see why, the MA's busiest day (apart from main events) is a Tuesday evening when it's off road night.I'm not starting any rumors, just stating what I see, and yes i'm also happy to say it to whoever at the motor arena not just on this forum.

I for one think the MA is an awesome venue, and I hope it is still there is 10 years time, and i've also done my fair share of sticking up for both the venue and the people who work there.

It would be much better if people where to post things they would like to see at the venue etc.... they will be read and spoke about.

We have, and I for one started the first thread about an off road night at the MA. http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54642

I'm not having a go Jon, it's just frustrating that such a great venue seems the be struggling and making repeated mistakes.

It's fair to say that things are getting better, however there seems to be the odd blip. Hopefully things will continue to improve and with you working at the MA doing what you do i'm sure we can look forward to some good events.

Maybe "The newest, most exciting leisure attraction in the UK" should at least apologise to the people who have traveled to the venue to find that it's closed without warning.

As said in a post before, it is Silverstone RCMCC who run the Tuesday meetings and they have been informed that Tuesday IS ON.
