Bigred,
Do you do anything in the lines of servicing etc? or just know much about them in general? I've got the 1000ti yellow one, and still have probs with it. sometimes it will run for ages at home, without a problem. then I take it to a race meeting and every time it fails to fire up. I get it back home and the plug is black and wet? Any Ideas? Starting to get on my nerves now. Cos when I get it home and it usually works?! I think its got 'raceday phobia'.

you are moving the switch from "start" to "run" i presume?
also, make sure the vent thingy on the petrol cap is set to on as well. my kipor (oh no! a red one! ) had trouble keeping going once because i left it on start and also left the vent shut.

telboy put petrol in not diesel!!
as burgie has said the vent if shut will creat a vaccum and the fuel will starve when on start will give extra fuel from being on choke one thing ur meant to do is switch the auto throttle off so it revs well and warms up once its running ok switch to auto (helps clean the plug from being on choke. top up ur oil level too my advice tell would be get a new plug in it,(lawn mover or maybe auto centre) once they have fouled they dont clean out too easy, a new one will make it run cleaner if your stuck i can give u a service agent to contact for em

diesel......
Yep doing everything right in terms of starting etc. I'll try a new plug and see what happens there. |

strange, they usually start on first pull
turn the switch to on move choke to start pull and away it goes check choke has auto moved back to run if the plugs wet then its either too rich or you have an electrical problem somewhere,if its starting intermittent then i would check the ht lead/cap. dave |

the start/run slide is the choke mark i beleieve.
usually if the plug is sooty black its to rich, but a wet plug suggests its electrical..maybe drop a strobe checker on the ht lead and see if its firing the plug? dave |

black sooty = rich when running wet = rich, too much fuel flooding engine, no spark fouled plug not producing clean spark, oil getting past rings (should get blue smoke when running)

usually when the genny starts it flicks the slider back to the run position,,but not always, sometimes you have to move it manually.
