Ditch the fan. Mount the capacitor on the chassis if you have the shorty pack. I'm sure you can mount the speedo where it should be then.
I run SP and mounted the capacitor on the chassis next to my short lipo. You can't even see it in my pic.

Unfortunatly ive got saddle packs which give no room to mount the speedo/cap on the base, its ment to mount on the back angled plate but kept falling off in testing so i made the level plate. Even tried mounting the speedo at the front but it hangs over the divider and digs into the sides of the lipos. Im hoping the weight pushed to the rear will also help with grip but if worst comes to the worst ill buy a short pack for it and re build later.

Its a sort of T shape, base is a little bigger then ESC to fit on capacitors too and bolts to the angled part of the bulkhead. Made out of a spare scrap of titanium 3mm plate i had laid around

No pics just yet but I have a link to a video on Youtube of my 22. This was shot on my first night out with the car on our indoor carpet track. I ran the car box stock as I was battling with a loose slipper and crunchy diff all night.

I still managed to lay down some fast laps and took the win despite some large brain cramps in the middle of the race. Check it out and let me know what you think.

http://youtu.be/pGaVVZlqId8

I ran my car again last night and with proper slipper and diff settings the car was on rails. Started the night turning 12.8 second laps. By first qualifier down to 12.6 average and 12.4 fast lap. Second qualifier was down to 12.2 fast lap and then in the main I was turning low 12 second laps on average and busted a hero lap at 11.89!! Not sure how I did it but the car was awesome. I hope to have that video up soon.

I will be posting my setup on my blog.

for mounting the electronics, has anyone made a small plate of something, put it on top of your battery, strap it in, then mount your esc on it, so its on a plate on top of the battery, but if you undo the strap, you can move the esc and plate and strap it back in?

just been through the whole thread.

cannot agree on people who put the speedy next to the servo in mid mount.....

you want as much weight over the rear wheels as you can get. Put it where losi designed it....

You want to build it, then work how the weight split front to rear, should be 61-65% on the rear. I tend to work around 63% as a basic then fine tune from there. Little things can affect it, 30g on the servo will move mine from 63.4% to 61.5%. No point just slapping weight on the car if you upset the balance.

You want weight as low down as you can get it to start, if there's room up front then why not. I think the speedo mount at the back was a optional location for it anyway.

As for weight at the back, too much weight at the back will only make the car understeer on power, less steering into corner. I'm taking it off mine, car has so much rear end grp you don't need it.

This might sound like a daft question but how are you calculating the weight split???

... two sets of scales front and back... working out the rear weight as a percentage of the overall weight and vice versa? or is there a more accurate way??

Ta, Jon!
