I've just setup my fusion exceed 10.5t esc correctly, but need to know how many poles the motor is.
My esc programmer is also requesting the " gear ratio " so that it can correctly calculate the speed. The gear ratios can be entered between the limits of 2.0:1 > 15.0:1. If anybody could help me find my gear ratio and motor poles figures i'd be grateful. At the moment I have my motor pole setting at 2 and my gear ratio at 2.0:1 (both default) which evidently isn't right, as my programmer/esc showed a maximum speed of 208km/h. Lol. My car is a MR by the way. Thanks in advance. |

I seem to remember when setting mine up, it has 6 poles.. As for your gear ratio, your instructions should have the internal ratio, this then depends on what pinion and spur you are running, and a bit of maths.

Thanks for clearing the poles query up.
My car is a Mad Rat. My pinion is a 27t with an 80t spur. Not sure about the transmission, but by looking at the exploded diagram- it uses a 20t gearshaft, 28t idler, and a 52t diff gear. Is it possible to work out the ratio with all these figures? Cheers. |

Ah, just ignore my post. I didn't notice the thread below, and also did some heavy duty googling. Seems the transmission ratio is calculated by dividing the shaft gear by the diff gear (52/20 = 2.6:1), which is then multiplied by the Spur divided into the pinion (80/27 = 2.962 recurring).
These two figures should then be multiplied ( 2.962 x 2.6 = 7.701 ). So I should input 7.7 into my esc programmer gear ratio field? Hope this is right. |

Anybody please?
I presume the programmer is requesting the fdr of 7.7, or will it be the diff ratio of 2.6:1? |

I would hazard a guess it would want the final drive ratio.
Why it would require this I don't know and it probably doesn't need it to be accurate to operate. I am guessing it will give you a mph converetion based on gearing and motor. Never had to put this information in any type of speedo I have had. ![]()

It requests tire diameter, gear ratio and various other things. When the programmer is plugged into the esc is shows average speed, maximum speed, average speed, temperature, and various other things. It really is the business. Much better than anything else in its price group in my opinion. |

Ok, something still isn't set right, and i'd appreciate any assistance.
My ESC still isn't set to read speed properly, as it's returning a maximum speed figure of 18.4Kmh, and an average speed of 8.9Kmh. Here are the criteria that i've set; for gear ratio - 7.2:1 (based on me using 29/80 pinion and spur), Tyre diameter - 85mm ( based on rear stock tyres), and motor pole number - 6. What have I entered wrong? Surely it can only be the motor poles that's entered incorrectly? |

Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but I too cant get the gear factor right on either of my fusion combo`s ( a 10.5 sport and the 7.5 HV 550 kit) I cam to the conclusion that something is wrong with the programming setup and nothing that I was doing!.

If you enter this information in your programmer then d/l to your esc and enter all other info' correctly you'll be set. I got a traffic officer friend to check the speed with a doppler radar, and it coincides with the speed shown on the programmer. ![]() |
