I've now ordered the parts for this conversion

Anyone know if AE are planning to make gear diffs that fit the B44?

There's a tread on here about BJ4WE parts compability with the B44, maybe you can find the answer there?

The only tricky thing is to mount Durango shaft pinions on B44 center shafts. You need a lathe and some skills for sure (thanks Oliv! ).

Otherwise, Durango diffs drop into B44 housings without any problems, they are of same dimensions as the AE stuff.

You need:
- 2 TD210001 (gear diff)
- 2 TD310005 (pinion)
- 2 ASC1731 (AE HD one-way bearings, as the Durango is metric)
- Some diff oil

Maybe also:
- 2 TD310022 (driveshaft boots )
- 1 TD310039 (rings holding the boots)

So that's around €150, without the lathe job. Ouch!
Hopefully I will have them for my next race on sunday. I will report how it feels here.

Good to see you back on the OR 10th scene.
where can you buy the AE bearings from?

I bought mine on Tower Hobbies, it seems that they are not available anymore. Google is your friend here

It is basically a B44 diff bearing with some kind of thin sleeve on the inside so it can mate with the metric one-way.

What do you think of this one? Let me know if you find the bearings. I'm from belgium, so it is even harder to find them for me.

out of stock, however he said it's a special order and can take 2 weeks. I dont think I'm going to bother. I will get a zx5 fs instead, as that is pretty much a straight pop in.

Any news and feedbacks about this mod? What about the weight of gear diff? Is it heavier than standart?

I've more or less given up this project...

My friend with the lathe & skills say the steel is too hard for him to work on.

So I'll use gear diffs in my Atomic-Carbon 410 Ultra then! Sweet Bugle shells received for it yesterday!

what are the dimensions of the bearings needed???

inner dia / outer dia / width ???

is it a mix between metric and imperial???

Just take a bearing with correct width and too big inner dia and to small outer dia, then take some stainless and produce matching rings tight shrinkfit!

I promise you it will work! Your bearings will not last as long due to the fact they're smaller, but I guess that's a minor point.

So it just looked around the old sparesbox I got when I bougt an used B44 and in that box I found two oneway diffs that got blue anodized on it and those bearings had a bigger inner diameter than the standard ones. Are those the correct ones? In that case I can congratulate myself om my lycky day I have got six bearings then.
Inner:10mm outer:15.88mm W: 4mm

Yeess!
Now my converted B44.1 will get geardiffs too. Think if those bearings will eventually wear out I can replace the with 10x16x4mm bearings. Those are a lot more easy to get a hold of. some careful dremel work perhaps but think it will work.

Got everything a need now but I wonder how to remove the axle from the bevelgear. Heating it up maybe and cool the axle?

I think the bevelgear and the axel are made from 1 piece. So, the solution is to cut the axel off.

That is not a problem, the problem is how do you make the hole in het bevelgear for the pin. How did you manage to do that?
