The "400" oil Tamiya is referring to is rated in 'cSt' or centistokes. It is a measurement of viscosity instead of weight.. Unfortunately cSt does not directly translate to a weight equivalent.. In other words, 400cST oil is not equal to 40WT oil. It is actually just a tad over 30WT.

Here is a pretty good chart posted by XRAY that gives you a more accurate comparison: http://www.rceasy.com/2008/01/10/xra...version-table/

Hope this helps.

Have a look at Lee Martin's tips on TRF racing.
http://www.trfracing.co.uk/page_1265187551237.html

Re oil weight, in my 511 I use Losi 35 in the front and 30 in the rear most of the time, sometimes if i'm feeling a little crazy i use 32.5 in the front and 27.5 in the rear.

the oils lee used there were mr33 oils and these are measured in cst.
If you can find an old losi oil bottle, it has both cst and std weights marked on the front of it
Hope this helps
