Indeed, Nathan told us that he had a mcs-gearbox for someone but he didn't knew who it was for.
Maarten, on the other hand, bought a vega instead ... and drove it this weekend. He admitted that he felt the mcs felt great and had a bit more steering then the vega ... but I guess he also lost confidence in the car.
Then ... I suppose that Nathan could pass this gearbox to me, then?

As I had to replace one of my idlerwheels, and used my last one ... I bought some vega-idler-wheels who supposedly (dixit Lewis) are stronger then the original Kyosho ones.
I'll give them a go and let you know if they are indeed better ... and still don't ''eat out'' the main-shaft.

Thumbs up All done!!!

O.K the parts arrived 2day(a BIG thanx to J.E SPARES..leg-ends)
So I have got Mr Simon Watson to build it, as he never had any problems with his fabs mcs g-box. So inside now are brand new shafts and gears, all nice and not worn, dab of glue on the ends and ta-dah!!!...Will build it up at stottfold 2moro, and give it a go......wish me luck....

I take it you need to reduce some slop ?
If so have you tried using some ptfe tape (plumbing) around the shaft ends
As this works quite well for packing bearings
Cheers

The idler shaft holes in the gearbox are a bit of a sloppy fit so with the addition of enough CA glue to fill the sides as you push in the shaft and not spill out and glue the bearing once set it is more brittle than PTFE and should stop any slop, it worked for me.

I have some details about that kit that I bought from Maarten, Fabs.
I studied the gearbox some more and discovered that the complete gearbox is slightly bent. Remember mine? Well his is twice or more bent.
Strangely, the two parts still fit together like a glove ... so I have only one explanation: the gearbox has been to hot and has bent while being mounted.

Anyway, it is a bit too crooked to try to fix it, i guess. I'll wait for the new gearboxes too.

Maybe he can go knock on the door with Atomic Carbon.

You should see the new gearbox from the TRF GTO

AC doesn't make any parts, and their subcon, which I know, can't make the gearbox. period.

I'm still working on a solution but for now all the tracks i've followed have been either too expensive or have proven to be dead end with people already overworked.

Fab - would you like me to have a chat with Lewis to see if he will make you some gearboxes at reasonable money??
The Vega gearbox is state of the art......

Do you want me to make you some? To your drawings.
How many we talking?
Cheers mate

CF incomming & the 1st is on carpet : the grip'll be hard for the gear-box...
hopin' for a new one too. but you know that...

@ the last race mine (1 idle gear as "usual", the second one for me) break down just when i was first on (a) qualif'
if it's appends a second time (be 1st in any run, miracle!), i don't want to loose because of that.

so i've glued the shaft and will not run till Merlevenez to increase his durability

new gear-box! new gear-box! new gear-box!!!!

bye!

I know the situation and I'm doing my best to get them out ASAP.

Now oOple isn't a claims board and if you have an issue I invite you to contact me in private.

Like I said as soon as the boxes are here I'll let everyone know, please be a little bit more patient.
