Lipos advice

As I'm old school and just converting to brushless and lipos. Does anyone recommend lipos to use with a 9t 3650-m motor and a 35 a-sd speedo? Ive been looking on eBay but I don't want to buy the wrong stuff and blow my new gear up like I did with my old esc.

all you need is 2s lipo 7.4 volts
i would recomend some form of voltage cutt off device too

From what I've said I've got to push my little wheels around that big old buggy track. What I mean is what speed would you compare it to in brushed terms. I used to run an 11x3. Will it be anything like this?

4WD - >6.5t. This is faster and smoother than my old checkpoint 10x2.

2WD - >7.5. Anymore is just stupid!

Older/less expensive brushless motors are generally not as fast as newer/more expensive ones (I used to run an LRP x11 5.5 that was no faster than my current SP 6.5)

i use 2wd 7.5 to 6.5 4wd 5.5 to 6.5 dependant on track

9 turn might be a bit hard on a 35a speedo in a buggy. if you are not worried about it being sensored or sensorless have a look at the 60A ezrun speed controllers. the ezrun 9 turn motor however is a finned 480 size motor and lacks a little bit of torque, a normal 10.5 geared right is better in my 2wd than the 9T was. much more than an 8.5 in a 2wd is silly unless you are a good driver, better be slightly smoother and make less mistakes than be the first to the end of the straight. in my 25 odd years of racing i have never become a good driver so the 10.5 is plenty for me, and all it lacks is a little kick out of the corners

Sounds like really good advice and my brushless kit I've ordered from hobbywing is an ezrun speedo and motor. I heard about them from a guy called Derek at Broxtowe and for the money look fantastic but I won't know exactly till I get mine but for £50.00 I get a 9t brushless motor, 35a speedo with fan and USB connection and a card programmer which I thought was pretty alright as I'm just setting up. I hope it all arrives before the 19th as I'm helping build the track for Sunday's racing. But if not I'll be on the look out for a speedo to power an 11x3 brushed motor as mine blew up at Broxtowe as I was trying to get too much power out of it. I ended up running my standard 17t motor and speedo. I actually did a lot better although it looked pathetic going over the table top

if all goes tits up I have an lrp quantum comp you can borrow for a couple of days, it will go down to 5 turns, Im not going to the meet at worksop but live in chesterfield so you could pick it up and fit your connectors (can put deans on this end)

Take it you've gotta work or couldn't get a secured place. I'm still surprised that I managed to get a slot secured. Thanks for the offer of the speedo, but Im ok got a back up. I'm just stripping my buggy today for a clean and oil check. I've got the dates for the Broxtowe meets if you want them to try and get on one. Out season starts in April take a look on you tube.
