Default Sanwa Exerd Help!!!...Sorry to "Bang ON" about it

A friend and me have just got back into racing after a 17 year break. We are running B44.1's with Lrp Sphere speedo and KO servo and receiver (modern stuff).

Problem is that our almost 20 year old Sanwa Exerd's have been returned to us in just about mint condition. We really want to use them but have heard several things such as, the transmitter and receiver will only run on Sanwa crystals, that there is a crystal for the transmitter and one for the receiver and that they won't work the wrong way around and that we could make wiring changes both with the transmitter and the receiver to allow everything to work as it should?

We also read somewhere that there is more chance of 'knitting fog' than getting these transmitters working. I find this strange as I have seen people using Sanwa Gemini tx's with modern setups and i am sure the Exerd is basically a Gemini with more knobs!?!? Are there any other receivers that we could use to get up and running?

If anyone could shed any light on the situation i would greatly appreciate it.

Many thanks in advance.
Jarvis

When we used our Gemini2 a hitec receiver worked & a Cirrus receiver was reported to work (& a few others) but you had to use Sanwa crystals, the Tx in the handset & Rx crystal in the receiver (asif).

We were also advised that the battery in the handset/transmitter was of different polarity to earlier models - swap the wires, I don't know if that was true, we did not have that problem.

Can you find some other racers on 40Mhz and see how you go, where are you based ? new 2.4Ghz kit is not expensive.

Default sanwa

futaba recievers work as do cirrus ones i used both without any problemsi also have used both futaba and sanwa xtls without problem the original sanwa recievers may cause a problem as to use them you need to swap the black and red leads around on your servos or esc as they are different polarity but this is easy to do

Default Sanwa Exerds are back in full operation!!

Thanks to everyone who advised and helped us out. I am happy to say that we have 2 working Exerds with KO receivers, turns out we needed genuine Sanwa crystals. Happy Days!!!!!!!!
