am i missing something here or is that kart just a painted up new kart which hamilton will be presenting. it says in the auction it is brand new......also it is the latest livery....he wasnt sponsored in karts was he? even when he was didnt mclaren only start vith voda this last year ot two.

not trying to demean the auction or owt but i'd be gutted to spend 42k on a kart which is just a promotional piece

He was sponsered from 13 when he went upto Ron and basically said that he would drive for Mclaren one day.

And now he does.

I really admire his determination

its his first year in F1, that makes him rookie.

does not matter how much coaching you have, if its your first time doing something, your still rookie (his first year RACING F1)

in reality he went to his first cart meeting where he finished 3rd was spotted by the manager of the zip cart young guns team who asked his father how long he had been racing, when he was told this was his first meeting he told him to pop to the factory the next day and the rest his history, it was after that that maclaren got involved. i was surprised to find out that only maclaren have a youth driving/spotting/scouting system.

bet they are glad they do now, even its just hamilton to come through it, He could either be the greatest F1 driver ever. Or be the best ever ever

Has whipped poor old Jenson "Its the Aerodynamics, not my fault, Honda-loving, WIlliams Shoving, Whooped by Andthony Davidson in his old car-ing" Button.

He does have the best car under him though. It was the same when DC was racing for them while the car was competitive. I dont want to take anything away from Lewis because I am sure he will be world champion this year, but it is team that counts, not the individual. As for how Button would do, i am sure that button driving the Mc would have resulted in front grid position behind Alonso.
