Talking Dex 410 noise

Ok dont laugh But if i just push my car say on pit table it sounds like a tractor a old one to, ok when running but does not feel right.
Just wondered if i got it set up right, after friday night and now this i was going to get the b44 out.
Just wondered if it just the spur on the pinion it does not seem to be rubbing on anything...
Cheers.PN

The geared diffs are louder than ball diffs, mines pretty loud on the bench if I roll it but once its running at speed it sounds smooth.

Check for chips on the crown gears. If you have the remains of the tooth could be imbedded in the pinion gear which will chew up the rest of the crown gear.

If not it sounds like your crown gear and pinion gears need a good dose of molly grease. I do mine once every six weeks, plus it's a good time to top up the diffs and inspect the gears.

Put electricans tape where the centre shaft bearings sit on the upper and lower casings. You'll be amazed at the difference. I love my 410R, I wouldn't change it for the world.

Definately use the tape.

The simplest way of explaining it is this knock 2 metal things together and then knock two plastic things together imagine they are crown gear teeth....... Which is louder????

Metal on metal.

Just keep them greased up and you'll be fine. The drivetrwin will never be 100% quiet not like the 502 or B44. You can tell which Durangos are running a little dry during a race because they sound like a bag of hammers.

I have to say Leon yours sounded twice as loud as mine on Friday night and I've only done 4 club nights on it. I did cover my diff gears with ae black grease though which seems to have done the trick. Running it at Ludlow tonight it was very quiet compared to what I remember thx cat use to be like there!

I don't know if this would help but is your pinion to close to your spur??? when I noticed mine sounding louder than others it was that, moved it back a bit and it was better! just a thought....
