Not sure what firmware, but think it's the latest version
It was set to 3s lipo by mistake on a previous occasion so that could explain the voltage cut off being tripped. What is spec mode? |

Spec mode = no timing. Timing profile #1
Starting with firmware 2.08, being in spec mode would be indicated by blinking one LED (don't remember which one) and 2.12 will blink 3&5.

Had a check on the website, it seems to suggest that the no1 LED flashing is showing the internal temperature? (1 being the lowest)
After a resetting a few bits its now flashing no5 LED and seems ok? Just not sure now why it was going so slowly after only three mins or so and why it had cut out.... weird... ![]() |

The unit will always flash between led 4(nuetral) and to the left showing the onboard temperature of the esc. This is normal.

hi
i'm running an rs pro with a tamiya TRF 417 touring chassis engine is the tamiya 12T brushless (for local tamiyacup regulations) this engine is only sensorless however can you advise me a good setup of my rs pro in this case pls ? I know lowie asked this question already in the first pages of this thread, but mabey with new firmware there are some changes ? will the boost start and end rpm work in sensorless mode ? as for the turbo delay and such ...? or does this only work in sensored mode ? and if it does, what would be a good setup for smaller carpet tracks ? many thanks |

Well since it's sensorless you'll only be able to use "Timing Advance" with it. This should be maxed out at 100. The start and end rpms will affect the car. Try the defaults first.
On a smaller carpet track try 3xxx start rpm and 14000 end rpm. You cannot use the turbo function with a sensorless motor.

[QUOTE=NTS;442010]I have never used the transmitter for air, it was bought for car use. I wanted Spektrum because in air circles (my farther is a long time flyer) the Spektrum 2.4Ghz system is considered by many to be the best (I don't want to get into a "who's the best" debate by the way) and the DX6i is very reasonably priced for the spec. compared to car kit. I would have bought a "surface" set but unfortunately Spektrum only make wheel sets for surface use. I have spoken to Horizon Hobby about it in the past who say it is fine for surface use, someone at our club suggested it was illegal to use a 2.4GHz air set for cars but that is complete rubbish as the requirements for 2.4Ghz kit are identical for air and surface. My experience with it to date has been great, the conversion to sprung throttle is relatively easy and the 2.4Ghz has been bullet proof. It is a real shame that it seems to have issues with the Tekin as I really don't want to have to replace it.
If Randy can't help then I guess I may have a one week old RS for sale ![]() Nick sold my issue, changed to DSM2 RX with my DX3R |

Mikey, I presume you have "solved" your problem? Interesting that the change to DSM2 has worked for you. Both the Spektrum receivers I have tried are DSM2 so it can't be just that in my case. Obviously you are using a "surface" reciever and I have "air" receivers so there may be some other difference. As my Tekin doesn't seem good with the 27MHz set either I'm starting to think it could be the ESC but I just need to work out now to prove it.

With the DSM micro I had to put a capacitor in and there isn't enough room in my Durango, so I put the DSM2 in from my SV and it works perfectly. DSM2 RX is the one from the DX3R kit I purchased. Micro will prob go in the SV as it works perfectly with my Speed Passion LPF. |

I'm new to the Tekin RS - ran it for the first time last week & slightly confused by all the settings...
![]() Is there a definitive guide to all the adjustments i.e. turbo, boost, etc? Had a look on the various forums but all the conflicting advice (mostly for older software version) is just making me more confused ![]() For info - running version 212 with a 13.5 Novak Ballistic in TC on a tight tarmac outdoor track. |

OK, I can see your problem, your mostly maxing things out....
Throttle minimum 10 - ok Brake minimum 10 - ok Boost 55 - reduce to between 20-30 initially Turbo 20 - reduce to 10 initially Throttle Profile 4 - TP3 (linear) Brake Strength 100 - ok Turbo delay 0.1 - turn to at least 0.2, prefer 0.3 Turbo Ramp 2 - thats ok Nuetral witdth 58 - turn down to 8 Push Control Off - ok RPM 872 to 13002 - end rpm is ok, change start rpm to nearer 3-4000 rpm Advance Timing 100 Drag Brake Off Boost is the amount of timing that is incremented onto the motor over the RPM range that you set. Turbo is the amount of timing that is put on top of the boost you have dialed in, once you hit full throttle and the delay you have sat has expired.

Cheers DCM - thats very helpful, I'll give it a try
![]() The only bit I'm not sure about now is 'Advanced Timing' - am I right in thinking this is the timing applied to the motor all of the time? So when set to 100 this 100% of the motors set mechanical timing or a preset amount of esc timing ![]() I read on one of the advice guides not to exceed 50-60 total of timing+boost+turbo at any one time - that was probably an older software version though?! |

The advance timing is the equivelent of 30deg on the motor, so 100 on the Tekin puts 30 deg of timing. 50 would be 15 deg of motor timing.

The 'Advanced Timing' is for when you run in Dual Mode and not in Sensored mode. You set it in case you lose your sensor lead.
