Hi, as one of the now, few regular racers on a Friday night at Kettering Model Car Club i'd like to give a quick shout out, to encourage new members & existing/old members to come along & enjoy some good close racing on our small but perfectly formed track (including new 'flappy' corners to minimise breakages)
The Club can trace its roots back some 20 or so years to the Rockingham Buggy Club that used to race in Corby, through to the days of the indoor club at Burton Latimer until finding the club's longest term home in the gymnasium at the William Knibb Centre in Kettering. The past year has seen our numbers dwindle and attendances sporadic so it would be nice to get more, regular racers to ensure the survival of the club for the future. We have a website which gives all the details of classes, location & times etc, & can be veiwed here; http://www.ketteringmcc.co.uk/ Our flyer... http://www.ketteringmcc.co.uk/extras/flyer2010.pdf We basically run two classes - a 13.5 BL/27t Brushed stock touring car class with cars to run slick rubber tyres (Timing advance is no advantage on the small track ) & a Silver Can M-series Tamiya Mini class (run to the basic Leighton Buzzard rules)Timing is by AMB transponder, we have handouts but PTs are ideal. I like to think we are a welcoming friendly bunch & have an emphesis of good clean racing. P.S; we will not be racing until Fri 7th Jan 2011 after the Christmas/New year break |

Thought I'd get a reply like that Alec
![]() As you know we did run buggies Bitd - but our track markings have developed as such that they would not be friendly to the off roaders - even when we ran fire hosing filled with sand, breakages were common - people just wouldn't accept that now. The demands of the latest generation off roader, I think would be tricky to meet in our small hall, places like Taplow have massive ramps & jumps etc which have come to be expected at an indoor venue - we just don't have the allocated room to store such ramps etc. Adam Burgess took his B4 round the other week & it just looked proper lairy - it looked so easy to rip a corner off the car. If enough people requested a buggy heat then i'm sure we'd be only too happy to provide one - but so as not to alienate our current members that have invested in a touring car (& might actually like running them) the track would need remain flat - although perhaps a few movable (not too large) obstacles could be added before & after the heat? I suppose the question is.... how many people would come if we added the off road heat/s |

maybe we could do a buggy trial after xmas? me, you and nath run a heat? although i think it would be very tricky in the space we have. ooorrrrr rally-cross with the mini's?
a few small jumps and rumble strips? might entice some of the off-roaders in.

You said yourself that the numbers have gone down for the touring cars Dan, you'll probably remember clubs such as Irchester where the hall was so small that the cars got stuck under the radiators if they went off line LOL .......... there were only buggies back then, nothing else and there were never any issues !!!!!
"Build it and they will come"
