I've only been into the hobby a couple of years and already I far exceed any skills you have, have had or ever will. You have been messing with rc cars since the birth of Christ
I haven't touched my laser for 3 months in the last three months you've attended any meeting that allow entry to such wasserks like yourself.
Then on Sunday I beat you enough said four eyes retire!!!

Why not tell your mate to get a Durango then you can share spares if you need to

Well the bmax with the champions pack is excellent for the money...
I run a hopped up B44 which I like, and I find responds well to setup changes, but is a bit limited with adjustments (which I like actually).
The lazer is a nice piece of kit, and the price reflects that..the zx5 fs (not fs2) can be had for a bit less if you know where to look. The downside is it taked a better but less compatible wheel fitting compared to the other cars mentioned (it uses a 12mm hex).

If your running at Leominster though, a B44 may be your best choice, as there are a few around at the club, and we know how to set them up. There will also be some spares available for you.

Hope this helps,
Mark

If I was buying new, a durango R version would be a possibility.
I would think it would be easier to get a second hand b44, and just check it over and learn the car at the same time, as well as keeping costs down.

It might have some of the small strength improvements already fitted, which can only help.

The only thing that needs checking is the gear mesh, which I can help you with...

I seem to have my FS going reasonably well around Leominster don't I?

As for the wheels I have run a ZX5 for about 3 years now and this weekend will be the first ever time it has run with Kyosho wheels on both ends of the car!!!! Wheel fitment (Losi fitting I assume you mean) is more than possible, not desirable with the later ZX5FS2 / RB5SP2 rear ends though but with an FS it's simple enough.

As for strength I rarely break anything, if I do it's usually a "car coming the other way" sort of accident and is normally just a front shock tower, worst case a shock shaft. The tower issue will be sorted in a couple of weeks time when we have the Desire RcRacing towers for the car ... break them, I dare you to try

Dont' write the ZX5 off just yet and if you want a drive of mine to help decide if you like it (sure you will) just ask ... about time I came back to Hereford now I've found (I think) the cause of my interference there!
