Default virus

As they say in the houses of parliament, "in the other place" ie uk-mirorc, my virus checker say's there's a possible virus threat, so if you visit there, make sure you're anti-virus is upto date. I was going to say till it's sorted, but you should keep your anti-virus upto date anyway.

It's probably some spam artist attacking the site for email address and so on. Some forums (the software used) are more prone to virus attacks than others, but I've been told that th microrc one was one of the better types for withstanding them.

Still, update your antivirus, and do a full scan, just to be on the safe side. Nothing came up on mine, but like I say, you can't be too carefull.

FYI, the issue seems to be directly related to AVG detecting false positives and not that my forum has virus' running through it.

I have emailed AVG directly to report the issue.

Ok, ive just been on the uk-microrc website and tried it from my machine running AVG. The problem seems to lie when returning back to the homepage after reading a thread. But the issue is with a java script.

Ive only got the fault code (Exploit Javascript Obfuscation type 1336) when using firefox, so perhaps its a compatibility issue between the Java script and Firefox.

Perhaps Jon Mack would have a better idea as i dont really get involved with Java scripts too often.

Default AVG

FWIW, when the issue first happened, I just went to the main page and my antivirus allerted me, so I wasn't reading any particular thread. I've just been again, and nothing came up this time, so it seems to have been resolved.

Please remember / realise that forums are prime fodder for virus attacks simply because of the numbers of users, and not all viruses will lead to your computer "blowing up", and a lot are just out to get your personal details to sell to spammers.
