Are those wheels of the TRF502X from the factory driver Associated ones?

2. There's a Tamiya part number for a 417 gear diff, so that's not dumb
3. There's a Tamiya employee posting on this thread, who may well get parts number lists/more info earlier than the rest of us, so may know the answer before release. So that's not that dumb either....

Dave that not quite right. 415 and 501 shared some diff parts. Like diff pulley, rings etc, but you couldn't put a 415 rear diff in a 501 or the opposite. It was from the ta05 that the 501 took it's drivetrain.

Either way in order to have a gear diff they'd need a completely different pulley on the 502 so unless they do that you won't be able to run it. As for gear diff in the 511 maybe the ta05 geared duffs might fit...

I think its quite safe to say the 502 and 417 diffs have nothing in common besides 'possibly' the diff/thrust balls.

I mean, the 502 is shaft drive, the 417 is belt drive.

I dont see how you could think the diffs could possibly be interchangeable !

the dumb post was as a joke, but it seems you really are dumb by still thinking you are possibly correct

Fabs, the outdrives were the same as well I thought from what I remember, I had both at the time although it was a fair while ago! I had a TA05MS too so maybe I am thinking of that!

Both, surely you can actually run belt or shaft and have virtually the same diff except for the pulley/gear, you simply change the outer part of that part to either fit against the pinion coming in, or a belt over it. The outdrives/screw/thrust/balls/plates etc could all be identical. Don't get me wrong, I doubt they will be, put t's easily doable...

Maybe I really am dumb, but having the same diff but different pulley's sounds quite sensible to do in terms of economies of scale etc to me!

It depends Dave on how far they off-set the pulley on the belt drive, as that dictates the size of the outdrives, as with a shaft drive, the pinion/crown wheel size dictates the off-set.

There is nothing to say that the 'internals' could be the same, but the rest would be different.

(DB-01 and TA05 outdrives are the same... I know, as I got a DB01 diff in the front of my TA05...)

I just realized that on every picture that i have been seen to date i can´t see how the TRF511 Undercowl can fit on this Chassis plate. There are no holes for mounting the Undercowl. Will there be a special Undercowl or did Tamiya show a prototype Chassis plate on the Tokyo Hobby show?

The team driver car at the top of the page is using the cowl side plates mounted above the main chassis plate, hopefully the full version will also fit beneath! You can use the spare battery mount holes (whichever posiition your not using) or even really just screw through the cowl as well when putting the battery holding pieces on. On the front hopefully it will at least go under the bumper as the 511 does' then use sticky tape!!

Which are the Ali seer o miunts I've seen on various 511's and the above 502 pic, anyone know? More bling is always good!

Thanks Dave you are absolutely right! I wonder where the side plates are mounted on the front side? Screwed together with the Servo or just fixed with double sided tape?
However this is no solution Tamiya would make for a series production car. That why i think they must release a new undecowl. Second possibilty is: the main reason why there are no holes for the old NiMh batteries is that there won´t be an Undercowl and there might only be the naked Chassis plate which you could protect with Chassis protection tape.
As for the Aluminium servo mounts i have no idea about the part number, i have never seen them, anyone?

Totally agree. No need to call someone dumb. If Dave is dumb, then so am I.

I think undercowl will fit. The body fits and it has the same shape?

Think the servo mounts are the TRF416 mount "A". Part nr 3454510
You can probably use #54090 too. Have not tried it though.

The 511's undertray can be left full and mounted below or the edges used and fitted on the chassis, I would assume Tamiya have taken the same route.

I know it is kind of logic that if the body fits, the Undercowl must fit too. I´m just confused about the missing holes in the Lower Chassis plate on the Hoby show pics and if you look closely at the new plastic tree under the Lower Chassis plate on the picture you can see that there are new front and rear bumpers that aren´t as long as the 511 ones to hold the Undercowl in the front and the rear. Maybe Dave is right and there will be the need of double sided tape to mount the front and the rear of the undercowl to the Chassis althouh this wouldn´t sound like a Tamiya solution...

The 501X had that solution. Only two screws held the undercowl in place. You then used doublesided tape front/rear.
Think most drivers secured undercowl with bulkhead screws as well though.

I am sure this isn´t the final price. Champ is quoting 37800 Yen which is 290 Pounds. I don´t think Modellbau Seidel will be 170 Pounds higher.

Final release date in Japan is the 26th November. It could be that Singapure and maybe also Hongkong will have it a few days earlier.

If it isn't meant to be released yet, how come there's one already listed on Ebay?

Scam or is the Canadian importer being naughty....
