Ok so i needed a new radio for my one of my cars as changing receivers between races was a pain in the butt.
I am on a low budget as i am at uni so decided to go with standard fm gear. Prices were coming in at around £25 for a entry level system so i decided to look to HK and i was very surprised. I purchaced a Hobby King 2.4 ghz system (which is a re branded flysky system) delivered to my door for £20.02. I fitted it into my 1/8th rallyx to test racing this weekend. The radio gear worked perfectly, it has all the same functions as a entry level fm radio gear, manual trim etc but the added advantage of not having to worry about frequency clashes. The transmitter is of the same quality as entry level pistol grip fm radio gear and I found it to be well balanced and comfortable to hold, the trim controls are hidden under a flap so not the easiest to change during a race but it did not affect me too much, the range was good with no signs of loosing signal at the far end of our track. The receiver was compact and the aerial is short, binding is done by using a bind plug, although the system came already bound. All in all i would say it is the perfect system for someone building their first car and for anybody on a very tight budget such as myself, this system offers all of the features you would expect on an entry level fm radio system with the added advantage of being 2.4 ghz, Mike
