Default Advice 2.4 TX+RX set

Without paying stupid money - anyone advice on a new 2.4 TX & RX set?

I was going to buy one of the CORE sets for around £80 tomorrow, but Ive read a few issue's on these forums about them.

Whats the next price level that I am looking at for a 2.4 set?

thanks

How about a spektrum dx3e set, I think they are about £69-99 now.

Thanks for the pointer (I know I didnt say) but I am after 'sticks' rather than a wheel.

Is the Futaba 3GR 2.4 too expensive? It is a 3PM in a stick type packaging. Excellent value for money.

The 2.4 3GR is pretty expensive in UK shops - but if the OP is prepared to run 40MHz, the synthesised version of the 3GR is very good value.

On the second-hand market, there are lots of very good prices on crystal sets - something like a 3VC is excellent quality and can be upgraded to 2.4 with a choice of modules in the future.

I'm still running FM and have no problems - and since 90% of racers are on 2.4 now, crystal clashes almost never happen!

I'd recommend a Futaba 3VCS set second hand. I bought one with both 40Mhz and Spektrum 2.4Ghz modules/receivers from a very nice guy for about £200. With just the 40Mhz it would have been about half the new price. Seen a few since then for a bit less - you get a top-line Tx for the price of a decent budget Tx. HTH
